Good morning Forum People!

Its been a while since my last post regarding auctions!
And I think you guys have missed them...🙄

I have been looking for this ref for some time now, but with no success.

But I managed to win this one, and it landed recently!
And as usual, I would like to share the watch with you Guys and Gals!

It is a 145.012-67, and with two previous owners (Swedish!!).
The serial nr (26 mil) places it around April 1968.
It has been serviced at least one time, and the crown is a replacement (I think so??),
but I have sourced a period correct one.
The dial is nice, with an atractive color.
Lume plots have a few discolorations, but are complete with no loss.
The hands match the watch and dial, with the drop end chrono.
Bezel (DON) has a few marks (80 and 85), but other than that it is very good.
The case looks nice and still sharp, with some marks and scratches.
Tha caseback has som small scratches, and sadly a dent on it, but I can live with that.

The very scratched crystal must be the original one since the Omega logo is the old one (A2 Short Feet).
And its really (really..really…!!!) dirty - so this one is going to Simon Freese for a total service and spa treatment.

Well….what do you Guys and Gals think??

Nice watch, but I think that the dial has been relumed IMHO.
I agree that the crown should be replaced...

Cheers

Congrats, @hansaboy ! Looks like a genuinely nice piece!

Personally, I am quite convinced it has the original lume and perhaps even an original crown. 145.012's and 145.022-68's are all too commonly found with this 32 tooth crown (as opposed to all other 24 tooth Speedmaster crowns), which I have rarely seen on any other watch than the later 60s Speedmasters. Of course it could be that all those pieces were serviced in the late 60s or perhaps very early 70s, but I have to say I do doubt that. I believe even MWO suggests the possibility of a 32 tooth crown being original to this reference.

Enjoy wearing it (soon!)

Dear @Aludic , so nice of you to comment!
And regarding the crown, I have been wondering a bit there?
The MWO has some info on this, just what you wrote.

Kinda foolish to make a swap to a flatfoot maybe??

Cheers Aaron, and nice that you like my latest one!
I am soon of to London to pick up my other Speedys (there will of course be a post on that journey..🙄),
and let Simon work on this one, so maybe in the autumn I could have it back??

Nice catch Hans. Lume looks original to me as well
Thanks David!
And the lume is very nice!
I had a couple of long chats with the curator of the auction house, and he is one serious Guy regarding Speedys.
We talked about every detail, and there was never any discussions regarding a relume.
And he has a very high reputation, and wants to keep it that way.

Have a good evening Mate!

Ah, so at least you’ll have others to hold you over until then. As Autumn is my favorite season, I couldnt think of a more wonderful way to to finish off the year 😀 cheers!
