Its bollocks pure and simple. The reality is some models had no bevels, eg the -64 and some definitely did, eg the -65. The jury is out on some others. I've seen -63s with both. I've seen otherwise untouched 2998s with obvious crips bevels, but nothing like those on the FOIS.

Imvho only the 105.003-65 had clear bevels/facets. If you go through hundreds of photos of straight lugs you see that pattern emerging very quickly. There are a few genuine new old stock straight lugs that also show that trend (including the lovely and well known new old stock 2998 belonging to a forum member that does not have facets.)
I’m always happy to be proved wrong though!

Hey!
Very nice thread! Here is my 64, I was afraid it had had too much polishing that killed its bevels…
I’m quite happy if it never had any to begin with! 😁

For sure there are at least 2 case manufacturer for the 105.003 E. W.

1964:

1965:

Gino Balbi told me that the funny thing is that apparently the complete data of the 1965 105.003-65
production went missing by Omega and no one in Omega can remember the manufacturer's name

Cheers
