I'd bet a lot of the insatiable n00bs who would have bid it up in frenzy-like fashion ended up passing on it because they didn't know that was a correct dial. They probably looked at the fonts and thought it was refinished.

Good for the buyer!

Great price, proving once again bargains are still to be had out there 😀

501 movement is icing on the cake.

I have something similar, a rose 18K 2852 with same markers but a pie pan dial, rather a lot of patina though!

@felsby and @padders - you two have the more common, and more recognized, fonts. Watches like yours, despite not being as rare, would have fetched more money because more bidders would have gotten in on the action.

Ahh I see. It did seem awfully cheap, I guess that explains it.

You are right.
Is there a thread on OF about legit MOY violations like OP’s?

Apart from the alternative MOY, the wide “automatic” lettering also would make me think redial. Good thread for another occasion!

That's where experience comes in. Knowing when the rules don't apply is the key to scoring scarce or rarer watches.

Connies are too damned hard. I have a couple and as far as I am aware got lucky in that both seem original but its clearly a minefield. In future I may have to stick to Speedmasters, not as pretty but the rules are easier!

That's a fantastic watch - but it still has the more common font.

Good thing I don't own it or I'd be selling it way too cheap,eh? 🤪 😜

I'm not sure I understand you.

We've provided three examples. Are you implying that all are redials?
