    Hello Respectable Members:

Just sharing my recent addition -

A Constellation 2852-5 Cal. 501 from 1956 with Original black (aged) dial and original rose gold dagger hands. I have taken a few shots during sunset so the lighting isn't great. The dial has magical gold speckles in the light. This is due to the undercoat showing through. It creates a fantastic effect which I don't think I have done justice in the pictures. This is an Uncommon Constellation in that it has an Original black dial, with Rose gold markers in a Stainless Steel case. And also it has lovely rose pearls for the minute track..

The movement has been overhauled and bought back to life. Pictures eventually. BTW excuse any accidental flashes of my reflection in a few of the shots...

I will take a few more snaps tomorrow when the light is better to try and show off what I mean about the dial!

    The dibs is in

The RG markers on the black dial are sexy and the stainless case doesn't distract from that dial. Lovely!

Very similar patina to the Cal 504 Angel bought from Dennis with that washed stone type patina

Was never much for patina until I saw up close how interesting the aging is on these black dialed Connies.

Thanks everyone. It is indeed like the one Dennis had. The rose arrows are really beautiful. Dial almost a marble effect. It is truly lovely and unique piece I shall cherish! :)

Looks very nice. Very original look to the watch. Pink gold over black is quite rare.

Just one question -- I've never seen a black Constellation star on a dial before. Almost all cal. 501 Constellations were either 2852-5 or -6, so everything else about the watch makes sense to me.

Enjoy and wear in good health!

    Good question Gator,

I've never seen one of these with a black star either. Maybe it is some weird ageing effect? I don't know thats it's original, but I saw the watch at its most deprived level, and the star was always black then. The reason this watch is a treasure to me is because it survived the test of time and has "war wounds" to show for it ! :D This is a true testament to the power of wishful thinking...I had dreams about a black dial with pink
Gold arrow markers for many years...when finally...

    Best,
    Alex

Probably lots of tarnish on the star.
