Some help with my first Constellation purchase

Both those watches look like they have original black dials with the ebay linked one having a bit more age. But if you look closely at the watch you pictured, there looks to be some age to the dial and the way the picture was taken makes me suspect is has more age than apparent but nevertheless looks like a decent example (slightly out of focus and taken at an angle). Would ask for other shots as well if that watch is for sale - back, inner caseback and movement.

The seller of the second (with date) watch is well known in the Omega collector community. He does very nice restorations as he has learned how to accurately recreate Omega's pink finish on the movements. His listings usually mention whether a dial is refinished or not. This listing doesn't say the dial is a repaint and it has some patina, so IMO it's probably original.

He also gives a good price on future services to customers, so that is also a consideration.

I'd need to see more pics of the first watch to have a better opinion, but at first glance it looks good as well.

I want to back up gator here. Tim is honest about his dials and he is knowledgeable about old Connies and Seamasters. If he states that a dial is original you can be sure he as looked it over for correctness. You can also call him via phone and discuss any pending purchase.

Thanks guys! I missed out on the first watch, but put in an offer on Tim's black dialled pie-pan. I really like the black dials and really want a non-refinished dial with a nice overall patina, which this one has. I like the condition of the mechanism and case as well. So whilst the offer wasn't cheap, it was within my budget.

Thanks again for all the friendly help and advice - I think addiction has well and truly set in... 😁

I really liked the first example, didn't put in a bid but I wish I could have! Congrats on the Pie-Pan, looks pretty nice. My black dial Seamaster has this crazy crackling patina to it, but I love it. Wish I had more black dials! 😀
