Looks fantastic. Great to see someone using their modding creativity to give a new lease of life to this model of seamaster, rather than stripping out the 861 to build a speedmaster (which seems to be pretty common, and more lucrative, these days). Having said that, if anyone's got a spare 861 movement lying around they aren't using... 馃槈

More on this, as after all, what else have we got to do...

Here is what the movement was headed towards - triggers broom turning into a shovel...

However at the moment I would prefer this as is rather than a Japan look alike.

The point about it is that it is a collision of circumstances, and produced something that I shouldn't like, but I do.

Now you can make the worlds first Golden Japan - Racing Seamaster ...

About ten years ago, and I paid $800. It has an 861 movement.
Interestingly it has 22mm lugs. And this photo shows it in the best light, and took me a long time to get. This is a truly awful watch in real life.

What a difference. Really nice.
The dial and handset are very difficult to read, and I doubt it looked much better when it was new. The colour of the case has absolutely no appeal at all. Its one of those watches the more you wear it, the less attractive it gets.

The back is stainless, (as seems to be the way with these horrible part gold watches)

So I have all the parts for the Japan Special, and I was about to send it off to SFW. Then I noticed I had a case in Stainless steel, bought back when Watchco Australia were selling off new parts.

Really, this is the best it ever looks:

So I tried it on....

My new favorite watch. Ill post up some wrist shots in daylight...

Nice switch-up 馃憤. I wonder if different hands would make it easier to read the time, like black, or white batons, or would that just make it look totally confused?
