I was supposed to get a Ladies dynamic case yesterday from eBay.

Post office has it marked 'delivered in mailbox. at 6:45' There was no mail at 7:30 or 8:30 in the box. Nothing at the doors.

Brother who is visiting said the mailman drove by without stopping.

So from whom do I make a claim. The PO? or eBay. I think the latter will claim it was delivered. I hate it when people lie.

I am expecting another case today or tomorrow. Will not be home today.

There is a security camera, which probably does not show the mailbox, only the carport. It also loops. Not sure how long the loops are It is a PITA to use as everything is in the cloud.

Hopefully if miss delivered a neighbor will return it. Otherwise it was stolen. There has been a history here of mail theft. Doubt the police care, even if the ex Cheif of Police and Mayor live down the street.

The 35 buck case will not do anyone any good. It is SS and there is not much a market for these buttons.

I just wanted to vent here.

Sorry to hear that. Stuff like this is indeed a real pain. And venting is what we're here for.

"Buncha savages in this town" - Clerks

Porch piracy is on the rise as criminals are emboldened by crime being reclassified as "not crime". I see videos all the time of people getting things stolen from the porch -- hell, i saw one where 2 criminals fought over a package before the fedex driver was even back in their truck.

If it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Be positive!

Give it until the end of today, it may have been put in the wrong box or they scanned it in the truck but failed to drop it in your box (have had this happen). If dropped at the wrong house and the recipient put it back out with “wrong address”, then it may take another day for the carrier to get it to you. If you don’t get it by tonight, call or go to your local branch and ask (very politely) to speak to the branch manager- more often than not they want to be helpful.

I got to know my branch manager (Mss Wanda) and I could ask for her by name when I called. They only lost a few packages of mine (usually when my normal carrier was out) but I would give her the tracking number and she could pinpoint where it had last been scanned (yes, that accurately) as in scanned at the wrong address or on the street which implies they scanned it in the truck (a big no-no but some carriers will scan all the packages on their rounds at once and then dump them on the porch to save time). They lost a package of mine for several days (marked as delivered) and I called her. I told her it was antique watch I had purchased for my wife as a gift and she saw it was delivered to the wrong address. She sent the carrier back out that night to pick it up from the house they misdelivered it to (apparently they had just dropped it on the table in their hallway and never noticed it had someone else’s name address on it) and bring it to mine- that’s service!

Good news. I panicked too soon. Mail was in the box when I left for the pipe organ this morning.

My feeling would be to wait. Just wanted to make sure there was nothing pro active to do. I have found to be the mail people to be most helpful. My grandpa worked for the post office. I think he was a letter carrier in the 30s and 40s. Politeness is the key.

Bittersweet day though. Midnight, the cat who appears here from time to time, and lives in the pipe organ, had to be put down this afternoon. Stopped eating and lost half her weight in the last week. She was probably between 15 and 18. We had a good 10 or more years with her. Will post in the pet remembrance thread when I get home.

Does make for an interesting experience in quantum physics. To hold a cat moments before the end. As I said the older I get the more I question free will.

From potentially petty mail theft to questioning free will, wowzers.

What's the pipe organ? And rest in peace to the kitty 🙁

I’ll play Poulenc Organ concerto in her honor tonight. Glad the mail issue was a non-issue. I so rarely have had an issue with the postal service that wasn’t easily resolved.

We just moved to Street_Name Road, but there is also Street_Name Lane, and there is an address with the same street number. We are very careful to specify "Road", but UPS delivered a heavy package to the other address a few days ago. Fortunately, they sent us a photo of the delivery, so it was obvious where it went. I suspect this won't be the last time this happens.

Edit: Very sorry to hear about Midnight, I'm sure she will be missed.

Amazon did this a few months ago where they said delivered and nope. But I recognized the blue flower pot on the porch of one of my neighbors.

So sorry to hear about Midnight. My wife and I lost Oatmeal, the last of our four cats, about a year ago to diabetes at the age of 15. We'd kept her going with insulin injections for three years. The loss of a treasured animal companion is always hard.
