My associates inside of one of the Belgian dance organs.
I actually was working on the electronic in the lobby. Could not find any fault with the hardware. Turned out someone had rolled back the updates and the swell shoes (volume control) stopped working.

The clock on the front no longer runs, So my associate. (the one inside the organ) said replace it with a quartz movement. My reply was but that would make it a Franken.

Must be Tuesday ...
Shot inside the Lobby console. This is a pipe organ console connected to a rank of 'Virtual' or sample loops of real pipes. Takes up a lot less space. I have one of these at home too.

Mostly however I have been scanning in recorded rolls. These are a bit more than simple player piano rolls as they also play ranks of pipes. When I get to the end of a roll, I photograph the hand written number. I can then check this against a list of over 10,000 known rolls This roll is a 'Mexican roll' from around 1925. https://www.mechanicalmusicpress.com/registry/wurlitzer/mr_wapp65.htm
The reason I went to Bern in June was to give a lecture on this technology.

Further proof that it is actually cats that own the internet and do all the posting.

Must be tuesday. I unboxed my pipe organ combination action project. The cat (who's name is midnight.) could not wait to jump into the empty box. I think she was disappointed there were no watches inside it.

Just now listening to this.
Nice! This one, all played with the pedals. Quite amazing I must say!

Did someone say it was speedy Tuesday? I decided to wear this anyway, even with the scratched crystal. It still seems to keep good time. I tend to forget how large it is. Still my favorite watch. Hard though to get both the watch and the pipes into focus. Had to get midnight the cat in there too.

Mark as played our instrument on many occasions. He has some pretty good vids out there as well well worth searching out. For a while he was performing weekly live online concerts. Quite a talent.

Happy Tuesday.

You must hear this organ in person, truly amazing!

I've been fortunate to hear both Cameron Carpenter and Dr. Williams play "Hurricane Mama".

Well, I honestly didn’t think the OF was the place I’d ever post this link.
This is my father, playing the Civic Theatre Wurlitzer in Auckland NZ, in 1958 just a few weeks after I was born. One take, recorded on a four-track reel to reel Phillips machine and a single condenser mic sitting in the middle of the stage.
The old man was a massive George Wright fan but, clearly no slouch in his own right when it came to pedalling a Wurly.
A great shame he never got to play the Wanamaker store organ and some of the other great installations around the States.

Thanks mate. He was a gifted musician and an incredible organist, with freakish hand speed even later in life. This performance is even more impressive when you factor in he hadn’t played this organ for five years and had 20 minutes to record four or five tracks, which he did in one consecutive take after blowing the cobwebs out of the old girl for five of them.

Glad you liked it, it’s a powerhouse rendition.

The cat is playing the organ today. The owner had been playing it, then I noticed a change in style. Cat was sounding pretty good, just like a recording of one of the prior guests artists.

Last week we had Jerry up for a visit.

Jerry is one of the better known SF bay area performers. Best known for playing at the Stanford theater. Also did the pizza joynt before it burned. The caliope is from the joynt. I have some toasted drums, to restore some day.

I should be working on the electronics, but I am bored.
