I'm beating this out on a wretched tablet just now so am having to go back and correct. If typos rear their ugly heads then I apologize.

yup, that looks reasonable. I was thinking of Wad cutter too. Can I ask you what quantity/kind of powder you use?

I use 2.8 grains of Bulls Eye with the target 148 grain hollow base wadcutter, same as has been standard for several generations of bullseye competition shooters in bygone times. It's a great, accurate powder puff of a load.

3.0 grains of Winchester 231 powder under the same bullet could serve just as well, however I have not used that propellant in the .38 Long Colt.

I don't have anything to contribute to this conversation that is underway, but I will say that having shot bullseye for some years I can confirm that @noelekal 's suggested load is a very good one. I still load that for my 3rd issue Officer's Model and it'll drive tacks at both 25 and 50 yds. The only difference is that my 148 grain wadcutter mould isn't a hollow base.

Awaiting some parts for a new carry piece. Will keep you all posted when the parts roll in. Might even take some assembly photos as I'll be installing some internal modifications.

Springfield Armory introduced a new double stack 1911 today. Looks like pretty good reviews. Not Staccoto quality, but also 1/3 the price. I live in California so a no go here.

I just picked up this little Colt Pocket Positive to add to the collection. It's from 1910 and in .32 Police Cartridge (.32 S&W). When I got it yesterday it was a pretty filthy gun with decades of dried up oil that had turned to shellac. After a couple of hours with a copper brush, tooth picks, and q-tips, it finally is looking pretty good and is in a very good functional state; the trigger is crisp, lock-up tight, and timing is spot on. Here it is before, during, and finally after clean up.

I have been looking for that exact model for years without seeing one half so well-preserved, great find - thanks for sharing! 😀

I've upgraded two staples of my collection. The first is a proper pre-64 Model 70 that will be replacing my 1965 Model 70. When looking for this gun I had also decided to go back to 30-06 as I prefer the round to .300 Win Mag which my 1965 Model 70 is chambered in. This particular one was built in 1951 and is in excellent condition. I'm really looking forward to taking this one hunting this season.

The second new gun is a 1921 Colt Army Special. This one is a nice upgrade over my venerable 1913 Army Special. While this one does have blemishes it retains appox 85% of its finish with the only real wear coming from holster wear, handling wear on the grip frame, and a few scratches on the right side of the frame under the cylinder, which look much worse in photos than in person. The original stocks on this one are pristine! Which is nice because these hard rubber ones are usually cracked and/or chipped.
