My son just finished up AH1Z Cobra training at Camp Pendleton Ca. We got onto the flight line to get up close to his guns. Pretty awesome!
The gratuitous Speedmaster shot, oh the humanity Watch out you'll put your eye out with that gun. You are right that is awesome, would love to look around some of that military hardware.
You might put more than your eye out!...yes I actually got a lot of gratuitous speedy shots.. ......I also gave him my first Speedy pro when he received his Naval Aviator wings last August...we took a bunch of shots with his as well...I’ll ask him if he’s cool with me posting some and maybe share some of those. If you ever get a chance to get up close, do it...amazing machines!
I too have blasphemed repeatedly and unashamedly. 686 with the pin on hammer, 642, 442 and a model 42. I think I should stop there.
Yowza! What a piece! So purty it makes my eyes hurt. That one's nice! Pre-'57 for sure, but what is the serial number range?
For anyone pondering a tooling acquisition, I recommend the following school of thought: will the tool make you money in a professional application? If so, buy a good one. Are you just going to use it once or twice and then never need it again? If so, either buy the good one and sell it when you're done or buy the budget option that'll give you a few good cycles and save the coin you'd have spent on the high-end unit. All else fails: find someone to loan you the damn thing!
I had that with a caliper. I needed something foolproof that wasn't going to need repair or recalibration down the road. Hence, I bought a Fowler vernier caliper. Good quality, not too expensive, and one moving part! I need a loupe to read the darn thing, but I'm fine with that.
Question for the more experienced firearms people here: assuming it is legal to sell a rifle you currently own where you are (it is here), where have you found most success in making the sale? Word of mouth? Gun show? Online? I am considering letting a rifle go. If you're comfortable providing it, I thank you in advance for your input!
