With the resent Colt discussions this seams relevant: CZ in talks to acquire Colt
It'll kind if be a shame but honestly, Colt has had so many financial problems over the past decade or so that hopefully this will give them some stability. I just hope that keep the factory in West Hartford.

Connecticut is not a safe place for gun manufacturers. Hasn't been for a long time. I hope they move, for their own sake.

So just how good can a rifle shoot? I have one answer...this is my custom 308 Bench Rest (BR) rifle made in the mid 90s. It is designed for 600yd Bench Rest Competition.

With Fed GM 168g Factory ammo: (5 shot groups)
100yds avg: 0.266"
300yd avg: 0.855"
600yd avg: 1.523"
1000yds avg: 4.23"

With handloads: (also 5 shot groups)
100yds: 0.10"
300yds: 0.25"
600yds: 0.62"
1000yds: 2.32"

As you can see, 308 doesn't like 1000yds. Std velocity 168g transitions subsonic in the ~930yd range, so you have to push higher loads, and this usually affects accuracy. Although I won't complain.

As a goof one day, my friend bet me I couldn't hit a quarter at 300yds(silly fellow). So here is the proof. I aimed dead center.

As for the rifle, Rem 40X action, 1.25" straight taper 308Win barrel with muzzlebrake, 45x Leupold Competition(can't hit what you can't see). Weighs about 18lbs.

I know that's true but part of me would hate to see all that history just end.

Fine tuning the load for the rifle can work miracles. I settled on 43.5 grains of IMR 4320 under a 150 grain Hornady for my sporterized No.4 .303 after achieving a 7/16" group at 50 yards. The bullets themselves are around 5/16" in diameter so maximum spread was 1/4 MOA.

Tricks I've picked up over the years are neck sizing only and marking the rims so I can turn each reloaded case 180 degrees on second firing, the case and firing pin strikes on the primer being now perfectly centered on all subsequent firings.
To avoid the cases feeling tight on chambering I use every fired case once as a snapper to fine up my trigger control. The pin strike micro sizes the cases so they feed easily in the field.

When neck sizing I size only 2/3rd of the neck and don't crimp. The less pull strength the less the effect of variations in pull strength.

These are all tried and true old time bench rest methods.

Disclaimer: this is not meant to stir a political conversation. I merely wanted to share the fact that this bill has been reintroduced this month.

Please read it carefully and consider what it means.

If passed I would have really liked to follow the statute. But, damn everything lost is the unexpected tragic boating accident.

Mosin Nagant bastardized with plastic stock. Does have a nice Timmy trigger though. 5 round magazines are handy also.

If I’ve learned anything since last summer it’s that laws don’t matter. #willnotcomply

Sig 229 Legion with about $200 worth of ammo shot through it lol
I looked very seriously at the Legion series. Really good stuff there.

It means nothing. The Congress won't pass it and the President won't sign it, and since the Supreme Court already has said these sorts of things are unConstitutional, even if it does pass, it will never be enforced.

The Constitution and American liberty currently means diddly squat in D. C.. Not too many champions of either there at present.

Checks and balances. Remeber that some Democrats are not in favor of useless "gun control" measures, Congress did not bother to re-enable the "assault weapon" ban because all it did was ban bayonet lugs.

Gun ownership continues to explode. The constituency won't put up with it, Congress won't enact it and the Supreme Court is, according to some, stacked "conservative".

I, personally, am not worried. These things get introduced every year and they always go nowhere. Just remember who introduced it, and, if you are a constituent. regardless of your opinion for or against, make your wishes known.

Regardless of how this all turns out I’m going to enjoy the time I have. That in mind here is my newly set up KS7 with Salvo 12 suppressor. No hearing protection needed and all the recoil reduction you could ask for.

Looks like fun. I've been drooling over a new 1911 but thinking I'd like to build up an AR or M4 first

I lucked out on a Turnbull-made licensed copy of the Remington-UMC to go with my WWI Colt. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Those guys on 1911 forums go batshit if you say you want to shoot a WWI gun....

Loads of fun. I just put down my tax stamp cash for a 223/5.56 suppressor which will sit in suppressor purgatory for the next 8-12 months wile I wait for the paperwork approval. I’ll be running it on my Savage MSR (can’t recommend that AR enough, supper accurate).
My next project will most likely be an SBR. I’ve been looking at the CMG’s in 9mm. It’s all fun.

Guys on 1911 forums have the same clothes to get glad in. I shoot mine. It's in semi-retirement now, but still goes along on outings on occasion. Was the first 1911 I ever acquired and I've had it 43 years this year. Considering all the batches of handloads I've fired through it, 1200 rounds on each batch loaded back when I was young, I've fired more rounds through it than any other 1911 gun I've ever had.

Coming up on 103 years old this year.
