More problems, more advice needed, sorry. From what I can see, the PX4 is next to impossible to find in a compact/subcompact size. The gun dealer suggested a SS 365, but I do not find that particularly appealing.

On the long gun front, the Saint is out because it has a threaded barrel, which is forbidden in communist NY. So I would also appreciate suggestions on a AR/Mini14 type of rifle that isn't in that forbidden class. Thanks as always!
Since you live in NY may I suggest this bad boy?

I have been looking for a Marlin 1894 CSBL (357 magnum/38 special, https://www.marlinfirearms.com/lever-action/model-1894/model-1894-csbl) for almost 6 months. The fact that the Remington factory was closed in NY due to Covid-19 plus the bankruptcy certainly impacted the availability of these nice lever guns in my neck of the woods (California).

After 6 months looking to no avail, I had gave up on trying to buy one and went to my local gun shop to instead order a Henry All-weather, when to my surprise they had not only the CSBL as also the SBL (44 magnum/44 special). I had no other choice but to buy them both!
馃榾

The CSBL was tested the last weekend and performed perfectly, planning to test the SBL next.

Have you guys heard that Ruger announced that they are going to buy Marlin from Remington ( https://ruger.com/corporate/marlin.html ), I wonder if that will impact quality, when Marlin was acquired by Remington the rifles produced in the first few years had quite a few issues.

The Marlin rifles (or Reminlins) produced in the last 3-4 years seem to be fine.

@Wetworks I found the P365 on the small size but have you tried the P365xL? Its been my carry pistol for quite some time now and I can't recommend it enough, very accurate, lightweight, perfect size, 10 round magazine with larger aftermarket mags available.

Sorry about the lack of threaded barrels in NY, suppressed everything is loads of fun. Here is some suppressed silliness I've been enjoying lately. For your pleasure a Salvo 12 on an 870 because why not.

@10mmauto Outstanding!

May I ask which scope you have mounted in the SS Marlin?

I'm considering adding either a scope or maybe a red dot on my Marlins.

Just got back from taking a pistol training class this morning. Got a shoot different guns on the range. It鈥檚 already addicting. Still not sure what I plan on purchasing but I have a feeling it might be more than 1.

You know the routine: Unless the clip's removed and the action is open, it just ain't safe :whipped:

Well, that depends on whether it has a clip......

Did someone say hand cannon? Here is an Armi San Marco reproduction of a Colt Walker, the .500 S&W of the nineteenth century. This bad boy weighs in at around four and a half pounds unloaded and fires a .457 round ball propelled by up to 60 grains of the holy black.

Have you ever noticed that the breech end of the bore looks to be drilled below the center line of the barrel. This is due to the original design drawings being for a .53 caliber rather than a .44. IIRC the pistol was intended to use the .54 round ball already in mass production for existing single shot pistols and carbines such as the Hall breech loader.
This revolver in 53 caliber would have been even more awesome.

An early account of the Walker's stopping power was written by two civilian surveyors who had been charged by a plains grizzly.
They fired about nine rounds from their .36 revolvers with no effect, but the Dragoon Sgt assigned to guard them rode up just as the Bear raised on its hind legs and fired two shots into it's heart from "a Dragoon pistol of the largest size" and killed the monster instantly.

PS
Never owned one but have repaired and modified a replica for a friend and fired several hundred rounds through it. The power is amazing. Accuracy is also far above average for a service handgun.

Anybody ever order a custom Wilson Combat 1911? Interested to hear of the process and whether you think it's worth the investment. Cheers!

Wilson makes some fine firearms, the worth of which is a personal matter. I have a Nighthawk which I don't regret buying but I won't spend that much on a high end 45 again. If you want something truly unique for your ~$4k look into a Guncrafter Industries 50GI. Cartridge is about the same length as a 45acp but is 50 caliber. Not at all a knuckle buster but great fun. standard.jpg

Of course it helps to be able to reload. It's a slippery slope though.

I'd opt for the Hellcat OSP so you can add a red dot to it. Fine pistol. In many areas there is low stock so you may want to move quickly. I know that reloading supplies, namely primers are not available as MSRP so it's price gouge time....
