There is about a quarter of circle between the earth tangent and where Snoopy reaches the Moon. So.. 14s, 15s.. who knows?

Based on the image of the caseback from the omega website, what I think is that it takes 14s for Snoopy capsule to be fully "on" Earth, from the chronograph starts (at the 0 position, Snoopy is behind the moon). It will make more sense as the 14-second burst was to come back safely on Earth.

edit: photoshop to better explain

Seems very close to 14 seconds 😀

Check out this video posted in one of the other threads. It has a full description of the watch and he describes the trajectory of the capsule. Fast forward to the 13:00 minute mark.
Once the chronograph is started it takes 8 seconds before Snoopy appears.
At the 14 second mark, he is directly above the earth. After 30 seconds, he goes back behind the moon.

I do like this watch a lot but in some shots on this thread I do go off the blue hue (trick of the light I am sure). I do agree a command module and Lunar lander combination would be better and what material have they used for the snoopy command module transparent hand? That is the only feature that bugs me a bit - I wish it was invisible - maybe printed on a super clear disc. They have made some magic moments with that concept before. Overall this is a hit for me / nice to see challenging design.

One thing (about 2c worth) I will say about the last 3 3861 watches Omega has brought out that I really like : the fact that the case profiles are the same as 105.012’s with the short fat pushers ... 🥰🥰🥰 ... would be super happy if they did that for the ‘new’ regular pro’s once they ‘upgrade’.

i am really interested to see this blue in person or side by side a ck1998. honestly the more i see "in the metal pics" like this video the less attractive it is to me.

Was wondering about this myself and had another look at the video to see if the module was placed slightly forward so as to be centred at 14s rather than 15s.

If looking more closely, it seems the stem is aligned to the back of the module rather than the centre,
I think people are over analyzing the characteristics of the moon, earth and Snoopy's orbit. It's a fun complication, it's not a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon or a high complication astronomical piece where accuracy and precision is part of the design. Just enjoy it and try not to analyzie timing and all of that, that's not the point of it.

As much as one may prefer the appearance of the short fat pushers.
It should be remembered that every aspect of the current design of the Speedy Pro has been refined and optimised through many decades of experience.
Any functional changes like short pushers probably ought to be viewed as a retrograde step👎

Snoopy looks pretty centered in the CSM, which also looks pretty centered on the counterweight arm connected to the stopwatch second hand.

The earth is directly centered a 3 o'clock (15 seconds) looking at it from the back and connected directly to the 9 o'clock subdial on the other side. So that would mean the CSM and Snoopy are centered directly over the earth at 15 seconds (3 o'clock position), not 14. However, at 14 seconds from the start at the bottom (which is equivalent as 16 seconds if started from top), he does overlap the earth entirely but not centered over it.

I don't know. Perhaps I am just nothing more than a contrarian iconoclast, as most of my family say, but this watch does very little for me aesthetically - and I certainly have no interest in transferring money from my pocket to Omega's pocket for this watch. Some fun (some would say clever) little animated techniques that are cool in that context and certainly different for Omega. However, in my opinion not a patch on the Butterfly, or Charming Bird, Automatons by Jaquet Droz and many others. Still, I am sure that they are not meant to compete with those: however, it's hard for me not to think on those masterpieces. Anyway...dare I say it? Do I dare disturb the universe? Ahhh...what the hell, here goes: The term "kiddies" watch spews forth from my small brain not unlike the Ultraman perhaps? Yes...yes...I know...and before you say it, we see what we want to see and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it's the context, etc., etc... and I get all that but nevertheless it's what I see, or more to the point, what I don't see that I am responding to. Maybe it's new look and new context is suited to the times we live in - but give me the gimmickless and manly Moonwatch or Seamaster any day. I have no doubts it will be a big seller, already orders are through the roof I am told - good for Omega. I am sure that many will be buying hoping that it will hit the dizzy heights of previous Snoopy watches once it's no longer available for sale - crystal balls are everywhere atm. For those who buy because they really like it - more power to them and for those who buy as an "investment" good luck. As for me, I am stuck in the '60s with a re-entry splash into the seventies and these are the Speedies that float my capsule.

ps. What's with the movement away from bracelets, Omega? As if I didn't know. :-(

An enjoyable read and food for thought for many of us. I do wonder, if I do get this piece how it will fit into my collection and what it’s relationship will be with me as a wearer. My wife voiced what you have, a “kids toy”...I don’t disagree and as you say, each owner will bring their own interpretation to the watch...do I dare find out what that will mean for me?

Nice T.S. Eliot reference btw 😀

Toys for boys. Seriously there is a real fear of missing out as we don’t know what omega will do with the supply and demand of this watch as it weighs the benefit of exploiting this to enhance its long term brand proposition for all its watches vs hard cash earned from selling many of them. If omega constrains and drip feed and watch how the secondary market reacts , it is not inconceivable then that this will pretty much get everyone scrambling and scurrying for these. I don’t want to find out I am at the wrong side of the buy if this is a desired part in my collection should the value of this suddenly takes off; conversely I am prepared to take the risk that this goes down in value below its MSRP vs it becoming far too expensive to leave it to chance to where it’s price will point to in the future

I think it's best to always assume anything tangible you buy will go down in value and if it doesn't, it's a nice surprise. Let's say worst case scenario it loses half its value...so what? That's still a lot of money left in case you need to liquidate for unexpected reasons to raise funds.

Heck for sure I am not selling mine at 50% to what I had paid for in the first place. I doubt many would too. This won’t be like dead stocks left unwanted where the ADs just dump

If I were to buy another Moonwatch, it's either the Apollo 8 or this one. But, I should save my money for the ceramic Daytona that I've been waiting for for years...

I think we have a consensus amongst WIS here that a watch is to be loved and worn for what it is in present.

It's blasphemous to think about a watch as an investment in terms of a resale value or for any other gain in future terms. Period

Well been a few days and looked at the watch more than a few times.
Not a fan of this watch. Not scared to say it and know plenty like it ( me not liking it helps someone that likes I reckon )
Case back - is just too gimmicky and as said above, childish like in its execution.
Dial - Just too white and blue, almost looking like a football team watch.
Lume - hello, hello anyone there
Bracelet - ..........there isn’t one.
Box - haven’t cared about them ever. Would buy a $10k watch in a brown paper bag if it was cheaper
Price - well I don’t think I would be changed if it was Speedy Tuesday priced
Investment - who cares in my book. Have other stuff that fills that basket.

But someone that has changed. I actually like the last watch now. Seeing it compared to the new one I see it in a different light now.

Yeah Snoopy 2 has gotten more of my respect too, though it was too plain IMO. And I was hoping for some use of red and yellow somewhere in the latest version
