Could the center disc have been painted to cover damage, obscuring the makers brand name?

Nah don't think so, it looks completely original to me. Anonymous watches were not uncommon in the 1930s and even 1940s.

This is a tiny (3"x3"x1.5") Parisian travel alarm clock c. 20s-30s. I love it. I had to watch the Radium Girls once I bought it and started reading about radium and timepieces.

Great patina, looks like a graveyard stone. Suits its age and military background.

IMO actually very large for its time!

Correct, very wearable at 35mm! But lots and lots of radium, so at least that part is 100% true 😜
