Lots of lovely watches on this thread. You might have seen my new addition to the collection. I think this is my sweetspot in collecting.

Shameless double post... this just got back from service... with warm thanks to @GeorgeT11 for his help getting it into the right hands as my watchmaker is boycotting my tiny ladies watches. This truly is a wonderful community.

Here’s a tough little radium dialled cookie who’s brethren was good enough to pip Rolex to the summit of Everest 😉 (Smiths de luxe, retailed by JW Benson, note the Hillary dial)

This made me laugh out loud. My guy referred to a Ladies Bulova I gave him to fix as “the tiny time terrorist”. Every time I bring him a ladies watch he slumps and sighs. I feel a boycott is coming my way to too.

Yeah, he’d been signaling his annoyance for a while— and last spring when I brought him another he looked at me angrily and said “is this another one of those 8 lignes movements”? then the next thing was, “it’s a 100 year old watch, you can’t expect it to keep exact time anyhow”.
I had to beg and plead about the historic significance of that particular watch, but it’s clear it’s over. 😟
Gotta pick your battles.

What problems you have, i can not understand ... well could also be because my "watchmaker" is a woman 😉

My watches are always thrilled when I pick them up, i guess at least 😁

That’s cool - are you a lady too and has she serviced many ladies watches for you? 👍

Radium doing its thing at 09.54
Is the pusher there for hacking the sub seconds?

Almost forgot this had once been radium lumed.
Lume seems to have been none to gently removed from the hands. The dial looks to have been more carefully cleaned.
Whatever the speckling is its very even and the surface is smooth, gives it a polished stone tile look.

Sometimes I feel like a princess, but no, I am a man 😀

So far there have been no women's watches to repair, but no matter how hard the case was, there was never an eye roll 👍

My watchmaker doesn’t mind difficult challenges, on the contrary. He’s just fed up with those movements.

I have a small wrist, so a small military style watch was a must have for me, once I've found this Helvetia in great condition
