Hi all

Yes indeed Ceramic is hard and scratch proof for most of the time the problem and issue to my mind is that you only need to catch it just once at the point or place of weakness on the case and then its a whole different result. It's a very expensive risk to take IMHO and why I think the relatively small cost of insurance is worth it as its not just damage insurance but loss or theft also. Of course everyone is entitled to their own option of how much risk they want to carry for me I'd rather have the insurance and never have to use it then not have and wish I had it as @ roughly £80 per year even allowing for price increases I would need to pay insurance for over 70 years before the dreaded one accident worked out cheaper.

Difficult to tell from wrist shots as watches look so much bigger than they are in reality. For example:

vs.

The main question is not about the size of your wrist but the shape of it. For example, my wrist is only 6.25" but it's pretty flat so it's about 56mm from side to side and bigger watches look fine. Other people with the same sized wrist may find a watch with 50mm lug to lug overhanging.

The DSOM is only 2mm bigger in terms of lug to lug than the Speedy Pro. It's thicker but it's on a strap which makes it wear smaller than the Speedy Bracelet. If you're comfortable with a Speedy on the modern bracelet, you'll probably not have an issue with DSOM, IMO.

Nice watches. Unfortunately, this is the only set of photos in this entire thread of a watch that doesn't look ridiculous on the wearer.
The black case certainly makes it appear smaller than it really is.
The only effect of the color is it looks like a black watch that's ridiculously big on the wearer instead of a stainless steel watch that's ridiculously big on the wearer. Stop the madness. Friends don't enable friends to delude themselves by rationalizing that watches that obviously look ridiculous on them look "just fine."

I don’t think it looks ‘ridiculously big’ in any of the photos. Is it a big watch - yes. Ridiculous - no. Just accept that some people might like bigger watches and you will get over it......

and yes, as a prior owner (are you?), I did find the black made it Feel like it wore smaller. I suspect that may be something to do with the thinness of the watch but it’s certainly my experience.

Yes, ridiculous is rather strong (and as one of the people who appears in those photographs, I feel the tone is somewhat unwarranted). I didn't feel comfortable in a stainless steel Speedmaster. Isn't it just a more complicated version of the optical illusion whereby a white square printed on a black background appears larger than a black square printed on a white background despite the fact that the two squares are exactly the same size?

I own one... and I have a small wrist. So, I say this from my personal experience. The Apollo 8 DSOM is much more wearable than say the Grey side or the grey meteorite + sedna. I've compared it multiple times. The strap takes time to break-in and once it does it works surprisingly well on small wrists. Don't be intimidated by the 44.25mm number.

From my experience, color matters. Black or anything very dark always gives an illusion of reduced size. Its like a black or dark navy suit vs a light grey suit...

Me too,

I' could care less how large it places on my wrist, the watch is an aesthetic marvel and wears comfortably and in my opinion is one for the keeps.

I'll gladly opt for ridicule and delusion.

That's the spirit!!! Unfortunately i can't have a wonderful watch that looks enourmous on my wrist, but i'm glad this one doesn't seems to be the case 😀
I really like that alligator strap on the DSOM!!

I never understand why people ask this question, only the wearer can judge how the watch looks to his eyes on his wrist. Pictures often don't show proportions very well so it is difficult for a viewer to judge properly. If you have to ask the question I think you have answered your own question.

This post is spot on....except for the “his”. Don’t forget the over 50% of the human population, they wear watches as too.

True, but probably < 0.1% of them worry if their watch is 'too big', they worry about the 'too big' issue elsewhere.

Really? I'd think the opposite, the Apollo 8 in its waning production.

It's currently not in production at all from what I have heard.

No problem with this because it's just a personal choice and not a delusional rationalization that it's "not" too big for your wrist.

Because they're inviting enablers to help them deny what's obvious.
If you have to ask the question I think you have answered your own question.
Exactly.

Or maybe someone never had the opportunity to see this watch in real life and want to have an idea of the proportion knowing how it migh look on a similar wrist. How about that?

Or do you think that everyone buy in the same way that you do? Because i don't know you but i don't drop 8/9 k on something that i have no idea how it might look like when i'm wearing it.

My comments weren't about your asking for the pictures; they were about the pictures posted in response to your request. Anyway, now that you've seen the pictures, you should know that it would look ridiculous on you.
