Hi guys,
Today i bought a new Seiko SKX009J (pepsi version) and im really happy with it... It has a different personality than the classic 007

I did not read much reviews on the 011 (the orange version) but when i held it in hand and put it on wrist it really looked great with the gold tone hands and markers on the bezel!

What do u think about the SKX011?

Huge SKX fan here as well.

Love the 11 for all the reasons you mentioned and to have often been tempted to pick one up

Got an SKX011 coming in the post as we speak. I spent a week on the beach with a Maratac beater, and couldn't love it. The 011 commonly gets modded with a black/white bezel and black hands. Be interested to see what the purists think of modding a $200 watch to tone down the bling.

The 011 in the original post looks modded with a different bezel I thought they did not come in gold I may be wrong. I love my 009 as a beater, I purchased a 007k for my Dad last year and when ever I see it I keep saying I need to buy one for myself. I purchased a Black grey Nato for his 007 and my god did it look great. Currently I wear my 009 on a cheap leather 5 ring zulu, and I need to pick up a better strap for it.

Funny thing My Dad gets comments on his 007k all the time, as people are aware that it is not a US market watch and needs to be imported.

Do the crystals scratch easy on these? Shame it is not available with a sapphire or hesilite crystal.

Actually, the mineral crystals are very durable. Mine has had 14 years of beach / lake / pool / vacation duty, and nary a scratch. The original Seiko rubber strap broke before too long, but non-Seiko replacements have fared better.

I have a SKX013, which was the first mechanical watch I bought. Never use it, should have sold it long ago 🙁

I had a first generation Seiko kinetic, it had a hardlex crystal. I needed to send it to Seiko twice for new crystals as the glass was a scratch magnet over 12 years. The only other thing that puts me off is the service 5 to 7 years down the line will cost the same as a new watch. I appreciate they are OEM sapphire crystals but I want to buy the work horse / daily wearer and forget about it and not want to worry about modifications. The only other cheap daily wearer is the Vostok Amphibian, this has a Perspex crystal. It is such a shame there is no stock quartz with Perspex or sapphire option. Mind you if they had this no one would buy the Kintetic Sportura watches at around £400 to £500.
