What do folks use for a single watch? I have a RADO, but it's big and kind of ugly. Is a leather pouch sufficient for protection (seems kind of thin) https://ebay.us/E5Rsxf

Looking to purchase in UK/Europe, if possible. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Ah, but what if it's mistaken for illegal produce? One overzealous and clumsy baggage inspector and it's "goodbye, sweet Speedie!"

Your watch will be much safer in one of these than some flimsy leather pouch.

And a "watch pouch" is an advertisement that "this container holds a watch", so watch out for 😒.

I've received and shipped many watches in containers like these and there have been o problems.

Is there a specific reason you're worried about needing to take your watch off? If it's to get through airport security, there is another thread about that here. In general while traveling, I just leave my watch on (even when going through airport security).

I normally wear a chrono/tool watch. For longer trips, especially when I have to deliver papers/seminars/public talks, it's nice to bring along a dress watch as well.

In the shipping best practices thread, someone noted that an insulated travel mug made a great packaging for a watch. Crush resistant, waterproof, not much interest to criminals

I find a cheap hard eye-glass case is best.
- The hard-case protects the watch from crushing
- Wrapping the watch in a soft-cloth protects it from moving inside the case
- The shape fits nicely into one of the pouches in my laptop bag
- Won't attract any attention from would-be-thieves in a hurry (why would you want to have flashy advertising on a small item easy to snatch and hide on someone's person? best to "hide-in-plain-sight" and not get a second glance...)

I wrap my **ugly and big** watches inside my socks every time I travel - warning: make sure the watch is removed before tossing the dirty socks in the washer when back home. 😀

I have one of these. It's cheap and works well, and it easily accommodates a big hand wound Hamilton that I used to wear.

What is the case for? Travel? Storage at home? Shipping? Watches are pretty rugged and unless they really take a hard knock aren't likely to be damaged under normal conditions. When travelling I usually use service cases from AP, Omega or other companies when they send your repaired watch back to you.

I'm also a fan of the single watch travel case, like the one in the foreground. The indentation keeps the clasp from rubbing against the caseback...

Like my friend @DaveK I dabble in leatherwork. A few years back I make a four watch roll. It’s not that big and if I travel with my wife we put her watches in it. I have a snap in the center for larger watches...

Recently I made leather storage pouches for a friend who has a wall safe. I designed them with snaps so they can stack together like Legos. They can also be used separately as single travel pouches. I liked it better than my watch roll, so the ones pictured are my own!

I also use a couple of casebudis for the same reason you mention - been doing so for a couple of years.
