Silver Snoopy and secondary market. Are they really selling for 28K?

Or based around celebration of an Award given to them by NASA. The NASA Snoopy Award is the bigger draw then the character. If only there was an epic thread about this watch not involving Snoopy Cartoon collectors a few years back or so.

I’ll admit I like the white dial, but hate the other stuff.

+1.
I also like the caseback.

I completely see the appeal. Look at the Genta Mickey Mouse frenzy for example.

These characters have acquired a certain status both emotionally and lifestyle-wise. The added factor of the relationship of Snoopy and NASA absolutely elevate it to a significant brand value.

When this one came out I always though tit was a little too busy. I love the snoopy, I don't like the 14 second and the failure legends. If anything I would have had one or the other as part of the case-back.

Hell, if they only had kept the squared markers on the first 14 seconds without the text then it would be a really cool wink to history, bu the text...too much.

"failure is not an option" is pure Hollywood Americana and really screams of Gimmick. It's like if Smith & Wesson issued a limited edition model 29 engraved "Ask yourself, Do I feel lucky?..."

It's weak.

But, to me, leave the squares on the second markers, the Snoopy image and the case-back and it's a beauty....27G worth beauty? I guess it depends what 27G mean to your bank account.

Failure is not an option is an unofficial NASA motto though. It was a driving concept throughout the Apollo program.

Today both Fratello (https://www.fratellowatches.com/how...-snoopy-paved-the-way-for-speedy-speculators/) and Revolution (https://www.revolution.watch/5-reasons-everybody-wants-the-omega-speedmaster-silver-snoopy/) made articles about the Silver Snoopy. Looks like it's even getting more and more exposures.

I hope you spotted the difference. We hope that the pricing nonsense will stop and Revolution is selling a Snoopy in their shop for 24.5K ;-)

While slightly different journe chronometre Bleu have also gone up a ton lately. A few very high auction prices and now they are selling 40 pct above retail. I don't get that one either...

Didn't realize they are selling 1 in store. Thought they're purely media 🍿

As I understand it they took it from the film. Never heard about it being a motto for NASA, official or unofficial. It’s a nice legend, and a nice thought. Better on the case back IMO.

But hey, I’m not the one that made a 27g watch so....

It is however how they approached the tasks at hand, so despite it not being official, it accurately characterizes the mindset. I would not want it on a watch anywhere to be honest, but I understand why it's been used.

I understand it too, I’m just saying it’s just relevant to the film.... sure, it reflects the mindset, which is why it was used in the film. And perhaps someone did say it, just as someone may have uttered the same words for any military campaign in history, or any pre op meeting for surgery, or any event where failure is not an option... the World Cup finals, tennis, baseball etc etc.

It’s not that I don’t get it, it’s that I consider it a little much on a watch dial that is not exactly lacking in content to begin with. The case back, there it could make a little more sense.

You don't need to argue when I'm agreeing with you mate...😉

Mostly an ugly watch to me. Much rather have an Alaska Project. I own neither though

To me, better than either of them are these two:

Neither has consistently been over $10-11k.

Yeaa there a few on sale in Hong Kong around the same price as the photo above (full box and papers).

However, same cannot be said for Mitsukoshi dials...

Reviving this thread as I have a friend that wants to sell. Does anyone know if the prices dropped or are they still at this level?

Thank you. It does look like it’s cooled down a bit, which it should because...... so that crazy bubble burst probably. From the 28g to now 20g it looks like it will go back to 15 or 15 which is where it belongs imo

I was offered one recently, barely worn, for $17000. Given I have several other incoming's, I passed. I felt that offer was under the current market, but not necessarily a screaming deal.

It will be interesting to see how the 45th's perform as we approach the 50th anniversary release
