Silver Snoopy and secondary market. Are they really selling for 28K?

It seems like they have been on a tear for the last 6 months. I am fortunate to own one that I bought back in 2015 and have no plans to sell it. I love Peanuts and Speedys so feel lucky to have gotten this one.

I do check the various boards and Chrono24 every couple months out of curiosity. It appears they made quite a jump from 20ish to 24 to 28 since April. Is this going to be Omegas Unicorn? will it be trading for 12K in 20 years or 100K? LOL. Seems to be no rhyme or reason and it truly doesn't make sense to me. I guess as they find their forever homes they become more scarce. But a 4X multiple in 4 years for a Speedy seems a little much in my opinion. They do seem to have followed a consistent albeit slow climb up since release.

    Thoughts?

A couple sold for silly money at auction... lots of dealers bumped their prices to match.

Ahh ok, that makes sense. That and scarcity. Never seems to be more than one or two at any given time on the market.

28 thousand Pesos? Or 28 thousand Yen? Either way, that's not so expensive!

    They're around...

There are 5 listed on Chrono24.

Watch Recon throws up 2 on various forums, with 5 sold in the last few months.

It's always going to come down to supply/demand, and the watches at $20k plus seem to sit there for a very long time.

I found one in US on Chrono 24 and 4 total. And none on watch recon but I didn't;t search every combo I could think of, just the reference # and past 31 days. Regardless, not a lot out there and the prices on Chrono are all north of 26 save for one.

Agreed its supply and demand. if it ever hits 100K, I might consider selling :)

Silver Snoopy price is at a level (say high teens) where I don't want to wear mine anymore whenever I leave the house, and its price will probably not decrease in the future. Nice problem I guess, since someone may be willing to pay more for the SS enjoyment than I am. Wonder what price I could get if I send it to Christie's - might be enough for a SP101 "Good++" Ed White or 105.012 ...

I’ve wanted one of those since I first heard about the announcement, but that was probably about a month too late. They were all already spoken for. They have been going for stupid money ever since and have now moved you to ridiculous.

If anybody ever wants to part with one near MSRP let me know. I’ll even promise if I ever decide to flip it (doubtful), you’ll have first right to buy it back at the same price

I think only if the entire watch industry implodes. It’s been 3 years and they aren’t making any more. What would cause a massive price decrease?

The sudden realisation that the whole watch is purely based around a fairly puerile, cartoon character ?

Sounds familiar...isn't that what happened to vintage Speedmasters post auction a few years back?

Interesting to see what happens in the future. I admittedly have no idea and don't understand why some pieces get hot and some don't. I get supply and demand and all that jazz but the prices on some of these pieces is just crazy to me. Fun to watch. Makes me wish I din't pass on that 6263 Daytona 10 years ago for 15K.

It seems to happen in pockets - one model is suddenly seen as both super desirable, and super rare at the same time, despite the supply not having changed?

    All rather odd.

We've all got at least one of those stories and it's not limited to Omega and Rolex. I still kick myself for not paying £1500 for an Autavia a decade ago.

Super! It’s a venerable cartoon dog Speedy that deserves to be in that pedestal. I hope Omega would issue another Snoopy Edition, even if it’s different from this hot model and I hope my AD this time will honor me with an allocation.
