Silly question on speedmaster bracelet

Hi OF

Firstly thanks for the selflessness sharing of knowledge by all the members here that I was able to learn a thing or two on vintage watches ( slow learner here) .

I got my birthyear speedmaster ( based on Ilovemyspeedmaster, not EOA), and I'm happy with the watch.

However I noticed something may be wrong with the bracelet. It is a 1171 with trapezoid logo and 633 end links.

When I wear the watch, I noticed the clasp is not center, I think pictures may explain it better.
Isn't the clasp suppose to be in the center as well?

Is there something wrong with the bracelet ? Or the links are not balanced between both sides of the bracelet?
Is it a minor issue or can it be fixed easily?

My apology for the silly question.

Thanks once again to all OF members .

Maybe more pictures of the bracelet may help to the diagnosis

I think if you just move a couple of links from the 6 position to the 12 position, the clasp will be centered.

Nice watch, btw 馃憤

Yes, move links if possible. Everyone's wrist is different.

Is there a possibility that the links can't be moved?

Thanks Dan S

Nope. If you look at each link that has a pin visible there should be a little arrow indicating which way to push the pin through. With the older bracelets, as well as the pin itself there鈥檚 a tiny metal sleeve that sits inside the link - be careful not to loose those if you鈥檙e going to have a go yourself.

You could move the links which are hidden in your clasp more out (microadjustment). And remove a couple of links on the opposite side. Should be balanced then. But its often a matter of taste and wrist form, so dont worry! Nice watch! 馃槈

I think it is better for me to get the professionals help.

Thanks

They are threaded pins which screw in.

On a 1171?
They can be. They can also be push pins. It鈥檚 been in production for 50 years.

Yeah, I know it's still available but didn't realise the design had changed in recent years. I prefer the split pins to the screws - I found the bracelet on a modern Speedmaster almost impossible to resize - I think they go a bit OTT with the loctite on the production line..

like this - from my 1171

mine also had the trapezoidal logo on the clasp

Ah ha..

Another alternative is to gain 100 lbs, fatten up your wrist, and expand the bracelet by moving out the links hidden under your buckle.馃榿

Then the speedmaster will look like 34mm on my wrist then
