Cheap as chips, this one. When I first started tinkering with mending/servicing watches, my second step (after buying a job lot of Chinese movements on eBay) was to buy a margarine tub of old watches from a local auction. There were about 20 in the tub - 3 quartz, one with 1 jewel, 6 various ladies watches and an assortment of old gents ones.

From this tub, I have serviced/mended the movements of half a dozen or so, just for practice and this includes movements down to 5'" in size. I have 2 1940s Movados in the project box and this small (by today's standards) Lanco powered by a 1022 movement which may be ETA or AS. As the whole tub cost me £100 including buyers premium, it works out that this cost £6, and something else from the tub has also helped out another forum member.

Casio PRG-130y. Could be one of my favorite watches. The specification list is to long to mention but for a watch and for that price it's perfect for those days it's needed. Like now in Bali when we went out surfing, the watch alarmed when the tide was getting critical and how much time we had until it was time to head for the beach.. The barometrical/compass features is also a great feature I use a lot especially when I climb mountains and is out for longer hikes. And solar powered so no worries 😁

Here's my entry for my most frugal watch purchase - free!

da8emy2y.jpg

I won this in a random drawing of benefactors on wristwatchforums.com. It came on this Hirsch carbon fiber style strap, but also came with the OEM bracelet. The strap is so comfortable I've never mounted the bracelet.

Last minute purchase for a trip to Nepal as I wanted an altimeter function on the cheap.
Love it for the memories of having been with me to Everest Base Camp and back.

Back in my college days I bought this at a stall in a shopping center, more as a joke than anything..... it was $15 with a chain.

I wore it quite a bit back then and the stupid thing is still running and keeping good time 34 years later, on exactly zero service.

Likely made of melted down T34 parts...
