Now claimed by my wife, it still occasionally finds its way to my wrist: 1950s LeCoultre square mystery dial with diamonds in 14k.

That is a lovely watch 👍 simple and elegant. Few years ago i almost pulled a trigger on the same model, it was a very good deal, but i had another watch i was hunting for, so decided to pass. Is it the 36mm version?
Do you mind showing the back side?

You are so fortunate , I will not rest until I own that Omega. That Ω is the Omega to have, that’s the classic, even more than the Bond Seamaster. That one is the real deal, all day.

My hardest watch to photograph due to all the angles and the peaked crystal - JLC Sultan:

My wife has its counterpart - the Sultana:

1950s LeCoultre Calender Disc. These have an elegant and pretty unique system to quickset the calendar - there is a button located in the center of the crown (so you don't depress the entire crown like some later quicksets).

In case anyone wants to see some pictures of the crown:

Finally I too pulled the trigger for JLC, even though I have been a devoted OMEGA fan for years. Mid-life crisis made me chose something higher level and since I've travelled the world all my life I chose the newest Geographic iteration of Master Control family. Hope it will stay with me all the way to the end 😉

How do you compare this watch to Omega Worldtimer?

How do you compare this watch to Omega Worldtimer?

Completely different watches, not really easy to compare. Omega has more sporty vibe and is much bigger. It has some advantages and disadvantages in terms of use:
- worse legibility of World time (world time disc compared to JLC's second time subdial)
- possibility to change main hour hand without stopping the watch while changing timez zones (at JLC you can change 2nd time zone only without stopping the seconds hand)
- better legibility of the main hands on Omega (silver hands on blue background)
- better wearability of JLC (40mm with 11mm thickness vs 43mm with 15mm thickness)

In terms of aesthetics & purpose - completely different watches, not something you can compare like apples to apples.

For a few months i was trying to source a spare used JLC bracelet for my Polaris, but unfortunatelly there are no spare parts circulating around and the sellers of Polaris are not willing to cell the bracelwt separately.
So whilie i was looking, i realised that JLC has increased the price on the new bracelet by 250,-€ which was not cheap in the first place, but i really wanted one. So after long disscusions i managed to pick new one up at the old price. I am really happy with the result 👍
