So I’ve had this for a while and been looking at if everyday! It’s NOS, just never had the heart to wear it! The initial price tag was also left there (look at how much it cost back then!) .
I've been wearing this on a Kizzy until I spotted the post by @Uscjake87 . It reminded me I had an old Fostner originally purchased for a Speedy laying around. It looks and feels quite nice.
1972 / cal. 2181. Very good condition, I think the case looks especially charming. Seller claimed the watch is NOS, clearly it's not. However it's a fine example of NOSMA (New Old Stock My Ass)
Here's my early 1970's Bulova Accutron 2181 TV Case, which is now complete with a NOS leather Accutron band(not pictured here) and tuning fork buckle clasp for.
The Accutron Astronaut has been worn by 8 of the 12 X-15 pilots and during the Gemini III and Gemini V spaceflight missions.
Again, in June 1983 astronaut Norman Thagard wore his three line dial version “Bulova Accutron Astronaut” tuning fork watch aboard space shuttle Challenger during the STS-7 mission.
An Accutron Spaceview wrist watch was worn by astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman onboard space shuttle Discovery mission 51-D in April 1985.
Onboard the Lockheed A-12 Mach 3+ reconnaissance aircraft, Accutron wristwatches could only be worn if the pilots wore the David Clark S901-E pressure suit which had a watch pocket in the upper left glove. My upcoming article in the " Of Time and Space " series :
Here is the Astronaut Mark II E with it's original bracelet which I had to take off and save because one of the lug links got damaged (solder failed) and I haven't found anybody to fix it.
