Took a punt on this f300 198.021 at a local auction before Xmas - love the 70s styling. However I was suspicious when I found no battery inside, I popped in a new Renata 344 but nothing doing 🙁. I read stories about Rob B in Thailand doing great work on these, but cannot find any way of contacting him (if he still services these). Who still looks after these in 2024?

That’ll clean up very nicely

I’m not sure where you’re based, but Paul at Electric Watches in the UK services all F300’s. He must have serviced 15-20 watches for me over the years and I can fully recommend him.

I thought I’d pop this on for the weekend as I’ve grown quite attached to it.

I had originally bought with the intention of giving it to my brother for his 50th birthday present. Significant because it was a birth year watch for him and my brother had given me a SMF300 strapper for my 30th birthday, the very watch that ignited my interest in Omegas and a watch I still own and l love to this day. I thought it would be a nice gesture to give him a birth year SMF300 in return, but unfortunately life had other plans.

I managed to buy this one from its original owner, a former US soldier in Army comms during the hand over of the Panama canal back to Panama. He serviced 1975-1977 in Panama and bought this from his Army PX store not long before departing. I’ve personally never knowing bought a vintage watch from a first owner, so this was a pleasant surprise… only made better by the fact it came with all its original papers, manuals, warranty card, matching serial number envelope… even the original deposit and final payment receipt from the Army PX store.

I thought I’d pop my SMF300 strapper on today, having just received a nos No.27 clasp for my nos 20-14mm Omega Shark Skin deployment strap.

I personally ready like this combo.
