My one very lucky buy was in 1983. This GMT was a mess , no crown, cracked plexie, didn't run.
Oportunistic purchase price of $130 !
That only happens once, I think it cost me $200 for full service so that detracts from the $200 admission to this thread.
Wow, that was lucky indeed!

A beautiful watch watch and a great price in 1983, but I wouldn't ever call it a bargain bin watch!

Lovely. Those Timex really do seem to just keep going. They were never a high precision watch, I am amazed how you can find a 40+ year old watch that has probably never had any sort of service that still performs within original specs.

Sterile dial is a Hamilton- one of my favorite everyday watches, you don’t even know it’s on and it’s readable from full arms length- as they should be

Point me to the under $20 thread.

What is it? Other than a chronograph, I can't tell because the picture is low resolution. Loos like a nice watch for under $20.

Lol- believe it or not I'm sure some of our more seasoned members who have the ears on the streets would blow our minds with some of their finds under $20. I picked up a 14k Baum & Mercier 60's dress watch with a cracked crystal and half a strap at a flea market in a $10 bin of watches....I gifted it to a friend years ago, so no pic sadly.

Oh, not a chronograph. Some called them start/stop chronos. It's a faux chrono. The top button stops the sweep hand, and the bottom button starts it. There is no reset. One jewel movements. LOUD tickers. Amazingly, I see them sell for over 300 on occasion. I can't imagine why. And the subdial hands move along with the hours and minutes but also cannot be reset.

All we need to know is that is probably one of the best ROI you will find anywhere....aside of the dude with the Daytona he bought for $500 and put in a safety deposit box...if he sells it.

Don’t go down that rabbit hole with a Timex- just wear and enjoy!

I have a couple old Timex that are +/- 30 or 40 secs. a day, which I imagine is about the best they ever were. Good enough to wear for one ore two days at a time and not worry about being late to a meeting.

I misunderstood. I thought we were showing watches that were actually worth less than 200. I'm embarrassed to note the times when I paid far too little for someone's watch. Not my proudest moments. A 69 Speedmaster that the guy couldn't get back in its case in about 1995. A Heuer Autavia "Viceroy" that one old guy knew he had paid about 80 bucks and a proof of purchase from a carton of smokes for. He thought 80 after two decades of use and depreciation was a great deal. I agreed. It's funny how I got a kick out of those "steals" at the time but not so much looking back at this point in my life. This watch is better for this thread.
