Recent acquisition which I have strong hopes for post Spa…salmon hobnail, sharp bevels, orig cracked low dome crystal (imo one of the most important things to get right for the overall feel of this reference) and missing crown, but several chunks of DNA…

Ha, I was hoping to see this one pop up somewhere in the OF-waters. Congrats! I have no doubts it’ll be a rather lovely example once it’s received the love it deserves… please keep us posted!

Ah, it was you who outbid me! 😬
But I am glad it stays in the OF family...

I kinda get the feeling that without OF-participation, this one would’ve gone for about a fifth of the final result. 😁

Probably…someone (selller) got a positive surprise.

Hi All I'm new here, found this thread while researching a 2577 I found in a junk lot of watches I purchased. Needs a bit of work but thought I would share a couple of pics. It will be going to my watchmaker in the new year to be fixed up and serviced

Thanks for sharing. For sure a bit of work! Curious on the case back; no reason to doubt it is legit but must admit I do not recall to have seen such style of the 2577 numbering or ”stainless steel” text on a 2577. It would typically have a 2577 strike and a follow up number like ”2577-x”. Anyone that can comment? This print almost looks like some ”denison” cases I have seen on other refs. Also the gold dots marking minutes are typically seen on chronmeter or golf ball dials I believe. Let us know how it turns out 😀

I also noticed the case engraving was different to others pictured. it's got multiple service marks inside so it's been with the watch for a long time

You did well, this watch will have above average value with the waffle dial and original unpolished case.
I believe the case to be original but locally sourced. The print looks like a Dennison case.

Would love to see caseback pics. Did you find it in the UK? Thanks!

I’ve seen this case back once before, also on a UK example. I think Dennison might be a very good guess indeed.

Hallo friends, I am really impressed by these nice watches and the great variety of dials...
But is there a date version in this 25xx line with cal 353?
Or is the ref 2627 the earliest with date?
(Here is mine with mvt. 353 and #12.581yyy of 1950, I learned here, the crown is not correct)

In New Zealand actually, but there is a good chance it is from the UK

2627 and then 2757 with lugs more similar to a 2577.

I just see a 2577 with cal 355 in Ebay.
Is that real or a movement swap?

Or possibly the whole case. Either way, movement/dial etc don’t belong in that case or to that case back.

2577s don’t have dates.

I hope, that no one of you friends of the ref 2577 bothers about my search for a "Calendar sister of the ref 2577" in this thread.
Here I found ref 2598, but the dial is not marked Seamaster and I have no picture from the back (gold filled and bad shape).
At least I am searching for the earliest Seamaster automatic with date indication. Is it the 2598 with cal 353?

Well to be honest this is a dedicated 2577 thread and you are somewhat polluting it with enquiries about franken 2627's. Why don't you start your own thread?
