Should watch returned from service include a warranty card?

I don't have any immediate plan to sell this watch (though once the anticipated no-date Seamaster drops I might, depending on a few details), but if I were to do so, I'd appreciate being able to bundle it with some kind of physical evidence of that warranty.
I don't think it's unreasonable to want a card that demonstrates to a future buyer that the watch was, in fact, serviced and is under warranty. You can say it's not Omegas concern but I disagree--making their customers happy is their concern. And when Rolex does it and Omega does not--that's not a good look for a company that very much wants to compete toe-to-toe with Rolex.

They've had my new white 3861 for two months, was supposed to be done yesterday but shows still being worked on in their system. Pretty bad for warranty work on a brand new watch that only ran for 8 hours on a wind.

It would be interesting to know what was wrong with your brand new watch that took two months to rectify under warranty. Unfortunately you'll probably never be told what was wrong.

That’s particularly odd being a white dial, I could imagine there may be some old stock of early 3861s that still had the teething issues the movement had at release but the white dial should have been made well after that was resolved. You must have been very unlucky to get one that recent with issues.

So I've heard. They should love me, I've bought a hesalite and a NTTD while I'm waiting for it...

They never do. Full restoration on a vintage connie, no paperwork at all just a bag of hands. My 3523.80, white card and old parts.

The old parts will tell you what was wrong...but sometimes they don't return them if the repair is under warranty. When they do, you can learn something...

Cheers, Al

I am going to post pictures of what I get back if/when I actually get it back. Warranty service on the brand new white 3861 that is 10 days overdue according to the tracker.

If this were my watch I would be all over the OB manager as to why a brand new watch that failed and sent in for rectification is now over 2 months in the system, and now 10 days overdue. Either fix the watch or give me a new one.

I'm 200 miles away from the OB, my local dealer handled it for me. But the OB knows about it and will probably do something for me on the next one.

So I assume it's a grey dealer or is it an AD?

AD. They couldn't get the white one for 6 months so I went to a Boutique.

Why? Sure it’s a bummer to be without a brand new toy for a short time but this is precisely what a warranty is for. As far as I’m aware, the projected date of completion is just an estimate. Going 10 days past isn’t a big deal and certainly not a situation that warrants demanding a new watch.

professional looking warranty card. It's a nice piece of documentation when you pay this much for the servicing of a "luxury" watch.
IMO a warranty card isn’t “documentation” worth having. For 1, all it does is show the watch is under warranty for two years and 2, Omega doesn’t even require it (or proof of it) should it need to go back in that time. The card is redundant from the get go as all service/warranty info is tied to the serial, but once the two year warranty period lapses, there really isn’t any point holding onto the warranty card any longer, which renders it waste. If your point in keeping it is “documented” service history by proof of warranty card, the receipt detailing the actual service is far more valuable to keep.
Not doing this for a service warranty seems like they are cheaping out.
The card cost pennies to produce and it adds zero value to the watch. I’m cool with it not being included.

It was a brand new watch that failed right out of the box, and 2+ months later Omega Service can't supply the owner with either a repaired watch or give him a new one? Poor QC to start with, and piss poor followup service. Situations like this should pop to the top level of correction, but that's just my opinion. I'm pretty relaxed about watch repairs under warranty, but brand new ones needing immediate help requires all hands on deck, including OBs and ADs, when you are paying full MSRP you should expect top level service from the seller. Otherwise, go grey and handle any performance issues yourself. In this case it seems the AD just handled the return for the buyer, I wouldn't expect much help from them, they made no money on the deal. But the OB who sold the bum watch should be involved here.

I didn't realize it when I posted before, but Japan OSC includes a nice service warranty card when the watch is returned, including the serial number and service date. The card below is for my Skyfall AT that I bought out of Japan. I don't know why USA OSC's do not do this. It's standard credit card size and fits nicely in the card sleeve Omega provides with the original wooden box. And the card sleeve has lots of extra slots to store this type of documentation. Get with it Omega!

They only just started to send them back in the nice little red travel box too.

For someone like me who buys and pre-owned watches, a warranty card from omega after service is a plus point for authenticity for newbie enthusiasts like me.

The new box is really nice. My Seamaster 2220.80 came back with one in July of 2022.
