Should I Sell My Black Bay 58?

Don’t see them being that collectable, the Tudor is the most flipped watch I have seen in 20 years of watch collecting.
Have seen one watch flipped between several members here and finally sold to someone else.
Probably more people here that have had a Tudor than actually own a Tudor.

Don’t you think it’s funny how when Rolex finally release the Tudor to all the countries they didn’t sell to years ago all of a sudden there are Tudors easily bought anywhere but 2 year waiting lists for Rolex Submariners. Just weird isn’t it if they are made by the same company

(know plenty here have one but I bet a lot come out that HAD one)

Nothing wrong with Tudor watches just noticed they get flipped a lot.

I would nominate Panerai as the most flipped watch in production. Followed closely by none other than Rolex

It's really subjective and a personal choice, so put the most stock in what you think. I value water resistance and the size/shape of the BB58 appeals to me as well. So for an "only watch" the edge may go to the Tudor.
I would vote just own both - you can get a used 3570.50 for a good price still. They are so different and both good, you will end up missing things about the other if you do a swap I just know it

Hard to disagree with this. A BB58 and a 3570.50 would be a very respectable two-watch collection.

Is the 1861 really going to be discontinued?

BB58 is a great watch. I say keep it.
Unless you don't find any interest in it anymore.
The resale price is good though. So not in a rush.
Hi everyone,

First post and looking for some advice – I bought the Black Bay 58 Black earlier this year and love it. I was deciding between the Black Bay and the Speedmaster Professional Hesalite. I know they are very different but I really like both. I chose the Black Bay because in my opinion it’s more durable as a daily wearer for me – I have two young kids who are always jumping on me/banging into my watch… Maybe I am wrong about durability, but I chose the Black Bay. My dilemma is this – I was planning to buy the Speedmaster in the next couple of years, but now with the 1861 (rumored to be) on its way out, should I sell the Black Bay and buy the outgoing Speedmaster while I can? Or just keep the Black Bay and buy the new Spedmaster at some point down the road? Thanks for your help.

I get it. I would probably be more comfortable abusing the BB.
However the Speedy is plenty durable. The only downside, which I am sure you are aware of, is the hesalite scratches easy. But it is also an easy fix with a quick polish.
Other than that I have no qualms wearing the Speedy on Dad duty. But it's not going out on the boat or to the beach, where as I probably wouldn't think twice about wearing the BB during those activities.
I'm in the opposite boat though, I have the Speedy and WANT the BB, but there is no way I'm getting rid of the Speedy.
If you can, have both, if you can't, stick with the BB if you want a watch that you feel is more durable.
If you MUST have the speedy, sell the BB for now and maybe down the road you can pick up another one.
At this point, it seems that the BB will always be less expensive than the Speedy.

Sound thinking. It is situations like this that make me realize why I want to own a Daytona one day, despite owning a Speedy and a lovely Aquaracer (WAY211C).

I swap my Speedy for an Aquaracer when I am near water- but I would have no qualms wearing a Daytona at the beach, the pool, or on a boat, with its oyster case and screw-down pushers; and as a tool watch, the Daytona can take the same beating as a Speedy or BB.

Unfortunately, it is a steel Rolex sports watch, and I refuse to play the AD waiting game...

I also own both. Completely different watches. I say get and keep both. I had the opportunity to buy a Rolex when I bought the BB58, and frankly, I prefer the Tudor over the Rolex. I have zero interest in trading my Tudor for a Rolex down the road, just as I have no interest in trading my 1861 for a 321 or 3861. Why I'd give the nod to the Tudor over the Speedy as a daily is that I do like that the Tudor is an auto, and also I don't have to worry at all about WR with it. Yes, yes, I know my Speedy is water resistant enough, but it's 25 years old. I like to keep it dry.

Do you want the current Moonwatch?if so buy it if not wait for the new one when you are ready to. I gave both watches and downs my time playing with my kids and there are not many marks on either. Ultimately both will be available used for along time

I’m coming to realize that the perceptions of our watches change over time. I swore my 16710 gmt would never leave the collection but now I look at it and..., well, let’s just say I’m having second thoughts.

Definitely keep the black bay and buy the new speedmaster down the road. The new speedmaster imo is much better than the last version. It has movement upgrades, new bracelet and clasp, and just looks much cleaner. I think you will regret selling the black bay now just to get the old version of the speedmaster

Keep the bb58. There are a million speedys.
Yeah I would like to see the new one, but may look for a pre-owned older model...
