If you have JH do it with a nice deep yellow (avoid too much orange- it looks way too Fauxtina) you will probably wonder why you never did it earlier.
Yes @JwRosenthal : This is my new hope on this one 👍
And I agree some nice deep yellow is a better target : I realize I will need to find nice pictures to describe it rather than my caveman color definition 😀

I would leave it as it is, I think it's not too much of an eyesore and better to not risk more harm being done.

Thanks for sharing. This is the dilemma 😀
If I go for vote here : relume is winning !
I am now digging into Croton history and going into the rabbit hole of trying to make sure I can refer to the watch original look before I rush in taking a decision in what color to go for ? And should I look or not look for 'new' hands ?

I think maybe just keep it as it is now for a little while (a month or so) and see how you feel about it, I have been in a similar situation before and I personally at least stop caring after a while and just get used to it, scratches don't bother me either anymore like they used to, when it first happens you stare it at, after a while I at least stop caring.

I wouldn't touch it (if it's all original) it looks fine...

I would relume markers and get hands done to match. James Hyman does some great work.

The minty lume colour on the hands would annoy me more than the markers

It is one of those nice watches that isn’t too valuable to enhance for your own wearing.

Thank you all for sharing views, advices and recommendations. It does help my decision process 👍

I'll let you know what I'll do and the results.

So far :
- I've ordered "Chronomaster Only" book and will take a good look at the different configurations and hues, comparing the ones with the baton hands references vs the broad arrow ones. I have had directly the writers and they seem quite categoric that a Croton CASD V23 should have come with broad arrows hands. This annihilates another more positive (to me) story I heard that due to new orders by customers in the US to Croton, and facing some shortages in hands, Nivada did supply Croton with straight hands for a while (with blue and sand colors too) before phasing out the V23. I'm also digging into the personal history of the watch by going back to the previous seller who bought it from - as was mentioned - a trusted collector.
- I'm checking the possibility to find broad arrows hands but none seem realistically accessible (Contacted a number of watch parts specialists listed in the US National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, contacted too directly NivadaGrenchen customer service as they have reissued recently a model. None of this seems to lead me to the grail. Finding broad arrows matching V23 specifications seems widely difficult)
- I will sleep on it a little more and if I decide to go for relume (which is my intention now), I will go through James Hyman who has rapidly responded to me and in the best of manners.

Thanks again OF for this place and with you people making it such a nice place !

Have a great Sunday

A little update on this one :

I've found the broad arrow hands thanks to OF WTB section... they came from a donor watch without relume (US)... so they have gone to James Hyman (UK) who has just done a wonderful job of this !

Before : today's picture :

Can't wait to get them here (FR) as I will be then in a position to put them together with a NOS dial I found months ago in C24 (CH)

So for a little bit of money 😀 I now have nearly everything to put it back to what the watch would have initially looking back in its youth (and in case it matters I remain with the original dial and the non original hands with me 😀)

I still remain with the subdial hands to find as the ones that are coming with the donor watch are not ok.... One last step to get everything model correct 😀.

Up to now, all this is kind of fun.
Thanks again for the advice : James Hyman is really great !

I thought I should put a picture here as I finally got my watch back last week.
Pretty happy with the results. Thanks again for the recommendation of James Hyman who has really been great at what is doing as well as a very nice person to deal with.
So finally here is the watch with a NOS dial and original broad arrow hands coming from a donor.
Those hands have been relumed by JH to match the dial and completed by « unblued » subdial hands also by JH.
I’ve kept all the previous parts of course (original dial and the bâton hands).
And here is a picture :

Thanks again for all the advices.👍
