I have a 9300 chronograph that I use all the time. Whether I'm actually timing something, using the right sub dial as a second time zone, or just because I feel like it.
If anything, you should make sure to regularly run the chronograph just to ensure even movement of the lubricants. At least a full 12 hours so the hands get a full rotation.
Do get it serviced though. If you were the original owner and knew what the watch had been through, you might be able to hold off for a few years. In this case, I think you should have it done for peace of mind. As far as value goes, it may go down for some rare and hard to find vintage watch that wasn't handled properly. Not for something like this.
