Those are 3 very different watches and at 18K stretched your stated budget by 45-65%. You also asked about a MK 1 EP so I’m seeing if you have fully done your research

Which MK1 are you referring to?

Yes a GMT 1675, 16750, or 16710 Pepsi. $18K for that 1675 is a heavy lift but it is very nice. Would prefer to be in the $10K-$12K.

I’m confused as to your reasoning? You asked if $23k was ok for a watch with Box + Papers + Expensive issues + decent case, yet say a pristine correct example with No papers is too much?

I am also confused! Which one is the “pristine” watch at 18k?? 😕😕
And also not convinced OP has done his homework...

"Pristine" is in the eye of the beholder, but Jacek is selling a nice 1675 for that price.

Oh, actually you may be right. It's confusing when a thread starts discussing so many different watches at the same time. Not the best way to do it.

That’s for sure Dan!
As a quick aside... that watch on TRF is advertised as a Mk4... but my very VERY limited knowledge seem to indicate it is in fact a Mk 5, no? 👎
No that it takes anything from the watch itself (although I am wondering if some of the shots were taken in a “yellow” lighting -natural or not- to give a sense of patina to the lume plots and hands.

There’s a link to one in a TRF ad that’s pretty damn pristine; there have been several mentioned in this thread so I should’ve been more clear. My point was I was confused at his self-admitted lack of value judgment in one post and his judgment in another post.

Edit to add—I was indeed referring to the one you mentioned in your link. I didn’t bother to cross reference serial vs. mk, I jumped to case dial hands insert condition. If it has the wrong dial obviously that’d be a big negative.

edit again- if OP is looking for a correct and excellent example, just contact springer at trf, he’ll get it sorted.

Yes, I am all over the place and should be more focused when asking for help from people much smarter than me. A lot of people have to put up with me in my life, will try not to add the OF community. Noted fellas, noted!

My total budget is $35K over the next year and I am looking to buy 3 watches. I spent a lot of time, research on my current tastes and came down to: Zenith A386 El Primero, Rolex GMT 1675, Omega Moonwatch 145022. These are the ones that speak to me and I tried them on. I'm willing to write a bigger check on any one piece that's super high quality and a great buy. The local dealer closed his storefront due to coronavirus and his situation, like many, is not great. As such, he started selling watches out of his private collection and pegged them as "opportunities". I tried them on, took pictures and asked the good people on OF what they thought. The informed and helpful people in this community have prevented me from buying things I shouldn't have. I want to say thank you for that. Going fwd, no more "should i buy this threads" @hejsam 😀.

Now for some focus: 1st buy I really want is a GMT as a daily wearer, in the $10K-$12K range. I am sticking to that so I'm not upset when i ding it up

I am leaning toward Option B or D. Thoughts?

Option A - 1983 16750 Matte Dial - $12K - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=730436
Option B - 2002 16710 BLRO - $10.8K - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=734892&highlight=16710
Option C - 2001 16710 - $10.5K - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=735343&highlight=16710
Option D - 2005 16710 - $12.6K - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=735218&highlight=16710

Good eye - you know your stuff - that is a Mark V dial made by Lemrich. Very different than a MK IV

He has moved on to tropicalwatch.com, but I agree about HQMilton.

Both B and D are 100% solid sellers.

B and D are both nice, but any good 1675 matte dial is way cooler and more valuable imo.

Was the 16750 Option A? I was just reading thru this thread and going to say, if it's between A-D, I'd go A.
