Short pushers

I am not an expert. Just acquired a 105.012. It has modern long standard size pushers. I have found a source of the correct short pushers. I understand the main difference between the 105.012 and 145.012 is the 145 pushers are longer and screw in.
Do you think I will be able to get the watchmaker to install the short pushers into a case that has had long pushers inserted ?
Buying the short pushers is expensive if they will not fit. Anybody done this ?

Hi Alan!

I'm sorry but Omega Forums just work when you insert a picture! 😉

Stay tuned, help is coming!

BTW you could change the title of your post to "Speedmaster - Short pushers" for better visiability!

Usually, yes, but it is hard to say without inspecting the case. Some 105.012 cases were converted (by the factory and/or watchmakers) and threaded to take screw in pushers. Others, were not threaded and the short pushers were removed and replaced with tall neck pressed in pushers.

Thanks. Am I right to assume that a pressed in pusher would not work properly if the case is threaded ?

Your assumption is likely correct

As you can see from the photos here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-105-012-nos-fat-neck-pushers.184258/

The short fat pushers on 105.012 themselves don't have threads, they're friction fit. The service version of those 105.012 friction fit pushers have thinner stems but are about the same length though they look longer. If the case is threaded it's not going to be a straight fit, I had a case I was building up a few years ago and ran into that issue ordering the wrong service replacements.

That has been very helpful and stopped me making a mistake. Thanks all. Clearly my 105 (C B, 1997) is likely to be a screw in. I will check with my watchmaker.
Thanks guys, it’s such a pleasure to find Omega experts who are so willing to help. Really appreciate
