·Hello,
First post here. Seems there is generally good help in these threads so thought I’d give it a try. I’ll preface this by saying I recognize I have OCD, and I only want to ask about this to see if these are “normal” things or things I should be concerned about.
I recently purchased a new omega speed master, white dial, from an OB. This is my first omega, and first chronograph. I personally love the rubber strap on the watch. I’ve noticed a few very small issues and came here to ask if these are normal, or if I should seek some service or a replacement. I’m okay with living with these if they are normal, but don’t want a defective watch.
First, the chronograph seconds hand appears to my eye just barely misaligned to the left. I think it’s possible that I have a more dominant eye, and with the refraction going on under the sapphire I may be seeing things. This is the first photo. Is this a common problem? Seeing the seconds hand slightly misaligned based on your eyes? When looking at it from straight on it tilts slightly to the left.
Second, and most concerning, is a subtle audible noise I hear when I shake the watch. It sounds kind of like a “jiggle” or “wobble”, maybe something from a spring? I’ve looked on these forums and heard that it could be standard “end shake”. Does anyone else’s speedmaster make this noise? I attached a video. It sounds loud in the video but in reality it is just as audible as the standard ticking noise, so you only hear it when you are up close. The noise obviously doesn’t bother me but it would bother me if there was a loose component inside and my watch came damaged.
Third, when using the chronograph function, the hour hand seems to be moving faster than the minutes hand. That is, at about 45-47 minutes it will look like one hour has elapsed, and at about 54 minutes it completely hits the hour marker. At default the minute/hour hands appear completely aligned. Seems like others in this thread have had similar issues. Is this common?
