Service center reshaped the lugs

I never changed the bracelets on this AT. I had some scratches on my speedy and SMPC of my own doing and I own them. So yes, if this watch has only been to NJ service center, they did that.

Okay, and absolutely ZERO chance the work wasn't done at Omega but instead you've been bullshitted to by your AD -- and they did it and are now back stepping while good cop/bad copping you?

I got a service card with Omega logo stamped on it. It has an accuracy and WR test result. Also, there's a number written on it which I assume is the service record number, so I don't think the AD is lying. I also gave the Omega customer service this number, so we'll see what they say.

If those scratches aren't yours then some serious junior birdman action was set loose on your AT... and it's beyond my scope of comprehension that that would go down at an Omega service center.
Me, I'd be figuring out some nonchalant ways to sleuth out your AD and their in-house watchmaker.
I still say your lugs haven't been touched in terms of being cutdown but the scratches are defo there... any chance Stevie Wonder is side-hustling at your AD as an apprentice watchmaker?

Regarding the chamfer, I thought about maybe they did change the case shape during the production, so I just spent another hour searching for real photos of this exact model (even the same color), but none of them look like mine. The chamfer on mine has an outer width as wide as the end link tab. All others I see are at most as wide as the letter "e" of "stainless steel" engraving. I can dump those photos here but I don't think anyone is interested...?

The warranty card says Nov '22 and it's ordered so it's possible this is the newest batch and all the new ones look like this.

Pardon my editing skill, but mine is at least 3 times wide...

And not the angle of the photos?

So you bought in Jan of 2023 or the warranty expires in Jan of '23?

No, it's hard to discuss this without watch in hand. The chamfer is angled straight and the photo angle won't make 3x difference. Also I have an album of other reddit WTS threads with different angle, and every single one of them is consistent with the letter "e".

Sorry, that's a typo. I bought it in Nov '22, brought it to AD in Jan '23. The warranty card says purchase date, not expired date.

That's 8500, previous gen. The caseback is also very different.

Okay, didn't know... AT's aren't my wheelhouse - I prefer Serica's because I like my watches to not hack.

I don't. A lesson learned today.

If you don't have a photo before how did you arrive at the conclusion that the lugs had changed? Just a feeling?? The chamfer does not look out of place at all. There will always be some tolerance.

Now the scratches on the other hand..that is awful.

No idea what if anything happened here. But based on my own experience I will avoid sending anything ever again to an Omega “service” center in the US - the one in New Jersey in particular.

My thoughts as well. You’re SURE it wasn’t like this before it was sent out? Maybe you just never noticed? Obviously too late and already mentioned, but take high quality pictures at all angles before it goes out so you have proof if they cause damage. It looks like you have excellent photo skills. Quick and easy ammo to have in your back pocket if needed.

there’s clearly a significant variation in yours compared to the others pictured. I doubt that kind of variation would be within spec for a run of identical cases.

the question is, did the chamfer change at some point in normal production batches. Doesn’t seem anyone here can resolve this for you unless they have an identical example, or can find one online.

it would seem the most likely answer is the case shape has evolved over time and you did not notice this before sending. It’s far less likely, but not impossible, that you sent this in for removal of dust on the dial and some lunatic reshaped your case while also scratching up the back of the lugs.

Hopefully Omega can answer the above questions for you. Good luck 👍
