No logo No stainless steel engraving on the lugs...

Hello!!

I just bought a watch not long ago, Omega Speedmaster Sapphire, with micro adjustment on the clasp. But there is something strange... I was looking yesterday the mechanism trough the caseback, and realised that my watch doesn't have the global logo of Omega and doesn't have the word stainless steel engraved. Only the reference number.

I got the watch as new, with box and documents. When I put the card of the watch near the phone it redirects me to Omega website where I can download the results of Meta tests they did to the watch. But still feels strange. I've sent an email to Omega but still no reply.

Maybe you know if Omega have been modifying their lug engravings lately?

Thank you for your help!

Can you send a more close-in, focused picture of the caseback and lugs?

Also, while you’re at it, can you share a little more info: where did you buy the watch? (New? Preowned?)

At least to my eyes, based on these pictures, I’m not terribly concerned.

I've sent you a private message with lot of photos. If you need anything else, please let me know

Thank you in advance for your help!

Watch was bought from a friend of a friend. New watch. He bought it in Italy less than three months ago. Complete with box and documents. Serial number on the mechanism, engraved on the lug and on the documents are the same. The card by NFC redirected me to Omega website where I was able to get the certificate of the watch. Seems all ok, expect that is missing the logo and the word Stainless Steel. The seller told me he can give me the money back no problem, he says he knows is original from the shop and he even have the invoice and so on... I've called the shop in Italy and I've sent them an email, I'm waiting for their reply

This is a red flag and I’d return it if possible.

Could either be polished off or a replacement case but given the SN is there, it’s probably just a quality control mishap.

I’d get rid of it regardless because it would bother me having a 99% complete watch.

PS the Cal. 3861 looks absolutely stunning in those pics. Hard to notice anything else!

If polished off, I believe it could be seen a bit... But all seems sharp and well finished. Also, if polished off, I guess the serían number should be gone also in order the keep four lugs in same polished condition. So maybe yes, a mistake from Omega?

It is definitely strange. And these aren’t rare watches, so there’s no reason to settle for one that’s less than perfect.

a mistake from Omega?
Most likely the case. If you got a good deal and have a Swatch Service Centre in your area and a valid warranty card you can send it there for a fix. Alternatively, return it. That’s what I would do.

If you send it to swatch as a sort of “warranty service”, I’m not sure what they’d do—re-case the watch? In any event, it could take three or four months. That’s the current service turnaround time. I’d return it, since you can, and just buy another. You could have a new one in your hands next week.

I'm waiting for an answer from Omega. Today I was on the phone with the headquarters in Switzerland, they asked me to send an email with photos. If they acknowledge the mistake, I'm ok having the watch like this, but at least to have something from them with this info, in case I decide to sell the watch in the future, which I'm not planning to do in the near future if as I've said, they'll acknowledge the problem

That makes sense. But for what it’s worth, I bet a lot of buyers would be turned off by this, even with a letter from Omega included. So the question is, why settle? I mean, if it was a ridiculous price and you really don’t think you’ll sell it, sure. But otherwise, why assume any risk?

Agreed.

OP should definitely get this fixed or returned.

Maybe Omega will say that they changed and now they only engrave the serial number 😉 That's also a possibility

That's just the uber rare no-back-of-lug-Omega-logo speedy. 😲
