Hello all

I am a denim newb but looking to buy a pair of selvedge.

I actually have a $100 Todd Snyder coupon and could get a pair for $100. (1/2 price). Seems like a deal but not sure if they are considered a decent brand. Maybe an alternate rec for around the same price?

Any input would be appreciated!

Hello @ac106! Thanks for joining this thread.

If you're new to the game and are on a budget, I'd recommend: Japan Blue. Check this out.

I settled on Levi 501s a long time ago and have stuck with them ever since. Anyone else remember the 'shrink to fit' ones in the 70s?

Love the intersection of watches and denim. Will post photos later, but checking in with one of my favorite pieces in my closet – the Supply Jacket from RGT made with 15oz sanforized black Japanese selvedge denim from Nihon Menpu.

RGT has some of the best denims in the market. Love the texture of Nihon Menpu denim. Nihon Menpu has a different take on slubs compared to PBJ or ONI.

Righto you awesome bastards,

I stumbled across this thread and am happy I did;

Who wants a pair of Lee 101S (waist:36 leg:34)?
I bought them in Sydney in 2011 and have worn them maybe 10 times. They have been washed because my lovely wife doesn't get it.
They are beautiful but I lost weight and its too hot for jeans here anyway. I'm giving them away.

First one to reply can have them.

I waited several hours to be polite, but would love them if still available. Happy to paypal for shipping. Let me know.

Gents. I’m traveling to NYC on Christmas Day and staying a week. I’d like to buy my first quality jeans. Could someone suggest where to start? Or does it depend on my size/style preferences?

Nice thread. I have a few pairs. Current rotation the PBJ019, Samurai 710xx 19oz. Retired pair of kicking mule's and APC new standards. I just ordered the rogue territory/blue owl expedition 2 in Stanton.

Sky's the limit in NYC! Two stores you definitely should hit are Self Edge and Blue in Green in Soho, if you want to get your hands on some really high quality denim. I would recommend stopping into APC as well -- their denim is not as high quality as some other brands, but I think they're great jeans to start with. I love mine.

Thanks Kmart. I looked at BIG and Self Edge and will be my first stops to find the right cut and size. The staff at both seem well-educated. Thanks again.

Never tried any Todd Snyder denim so can't comment on that but they are doing a 30% off early black Friday sale using code EARLY30 so if you can stack that with your $100 off that's a pretty low cost to try them out.

As far as other options, Naked & Famous and Taylor Stitch are a bit more, around $140. I'm currently rocking a Taylor Stitch cone mills selvedge as my daily wearer that I've been pretty happy with so far.

Love RgT and PBJ! I've never tried Samurai but will do it soon.

Those are the 2 stores I visited when I was in NYC. You're in good hands. If you can make the time, check out 3x1 and Left Field NYC. Have fun, buddy! 😀

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like an old fart when they read this thread? I really must be missing the point.

Fellas these are just jeans you are talking about. They all look the same (almost). Some fit, some don't fit so well. There is blue and a different sort of blue. Some look like they have run over on the highway, some like you left them in the back shed for a few years.

Now watches, cars or hifi component, that I can understand.😉😉
