Thanks!! Started wearing raw in 2004, went through Nudie, APC, Etc then got into the Japanese brands. I've also been working in the fashion/denim business now for almost a decade.

 

Great! It's good to have a fellow OF member who's into denim. Have you ever tried Tanuki?

 

I've read about the brand but haven't had a chance to try them. These days I'm focusing on making/creating my own custom or bespoke jeans, so a brand really has to offer something amazing for me to consider it.

 

That's cool. I'm interested in what you're doing. Do let me know when you launch your product.

Just so you know, out of all the jeans that I've owned (and I've tried a lot of brands, from Momotaro, Japan Blue, Flat Head, PBJ, Kojima Genes, SDA, ONI, etc), I put Tanuki at the top. ONI probably is on par or maybe comes second after Tanuki.

Edit- how do they fit? I need some room on top (rise and thigh) but like it tapered knees down.

 

You definitely should. Blueowl stocks Tanuki. I think you should go with their tapered fit. Plenty of room on top and nice tapering below the knee.

Sure, some of the brands are well known, some I have never heard of when I purchased them.
Here you go: Levis 501, Levis Silver Tab, Lee, Calvin Klein, Gasoline, Pantamo , Guess.
Usually buying what I like, don't really care about the brands...But should pay close attention to some brands were mentioned in this thread.

 

Thanks for sharing that. I agree, brands don't necessarily reflect quality and comfort. But yeah, do check out some of the brands mentioned here. If you need any help please let me know.

 

I saw a show on TV about a guy who found a pair of old Levis at a ghost town in California that was worth about $5k. I guess Japan is gaga about vintage Levis.
