So I just sold a Buy It Now (none watch) but pricy iPad Gen 4. £400
Buyer snaps it up but with 0 feedback. Account set up 1 month ago.
Address to be shipped to a rented apartment.
It all looks off to me. And having checked with an online 'expert' at eBay, they advise that buyers need to start somewhere and a first time buyer is perfectly normal and that I am most likely reading too many on line myths. I quote the eBay on line expert as saying:
'No one can force you to sell to this buyer, if you cancel you still need to pay the fees and you will also get a defect, what happens when you relist and someone with 2 feedback buys, do you cancel again and cancel until you get a a buyer who has 1000? I have sold countless Macbooks, iPhones, around 15 PS5's and have never had an issue, as long as you send via a tracked and signed for service you are protected by eBay. Too many people claim to get scammed or this and that has happened, you never hear the full story of what actually happened, many years ago there was a lot of issues and there will be situations where a buyer is trying to defraud a seller but eBay have worked tirelessly to rid the site of scammers and have specialist teams in place that deal with issues, not much will get passed them. No matter where there's money involved there will be fraudsters, whether it's eBay or wherever, but we get seller protection and support if things do go wong.'
The item would be sent as signed and tracked.
Should I just walk and accept (bite the bullet) and pay the fees? (my gut says walk)
Or am I just plain paranoid here and eBay has in fact tightened up and will protect me as a seller?
Appreciate all wise words of advise from forum members.
