There's rather a good writeup on the 7a28s on https://thespringbar.com/blogs/guides/seiko-7a28-collectors-guide and on the 7a38 at https://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-seiko-7a38-chronograph/

The 7a28 was the first analog quartz chrono, and the 7a38 the first analog day/date quartz chrono ... I'm sure I read somewhere that the first quartz watches with chronographs, actually used a quartz movement to tell the time but a mechanical chronograph movement bolted on top...

Hi, All.
Here's one of my Seiko's, I got this fairly recent on a car boot sale.
It works great I bought a new Seiko strap for it off the bay.
Watch cost 拢8.00 strap 拢10.00 total 拢18.00 I couldn't go wrong.
Second best watch I have bought.
On the case base is 5M62-OBLO
Just love it!!!
Joe.

I have been bitten by the Grand Seiko bug

The quality and precision on these Grand Seikos are outstanding and are visible in the dial and case as well as the movement I'm sure. What is the price range for these?

Nearly 40 yrs later and the electronics and lcd of this '78 are still functioning flawlessly. That's some impressive engineering.
