Here's a funky Five I picked up a couple of months ago:

I bought a SKX173 and was disappointed with the movement; something must have been wrong with the balance wheel - it ran fast it ran slow it would randomly stop. I discovered Seiko has a new NH36 movement - it has hand winding and a hacking feature - and I could swap them.

Here's the modded watch:

Nice World Timer
This is my 6117 6019 from 1968 also with the "error" bezel insert which has London on the same Time zone as Paris and Rome. They rectified this in circa 1972.

Ahhh, I always wondered what was up with that, but was never near my laptop to look it up when I thought about that.

I don't know the 4r336, maybe it's the same as the new NH36 movement. I used that movement.

The movements are the same size so the spacer is the same. The stem and crown are different. the stem for my case had to be cut to 14.4mm IIRC. Also the crown at 4 requires a different date wheel. I sourced my parts here: http://seikoparts.com/

I watched several youtube videos for mechanical hints.

The only Seiko kept around here is a lone quartz. It was a gift and I'm sentimentally attached to it even if I don't admire quartz watches.

Thank you very much for the Info!!
Yes that was a typo, I was distracted and meant NH36. I have had 8 watches with an NH35/36 in them so far. I really like the movement.

Does anyone know a dependable watchmaker who can work on a modified SKX (6R15 with day wheel installed in the watch instead of a 7S26)?

this one is just back from servicing, 1969 GMT.

Hey!

2 questions for you. First who did your service? Second, is the bezel ratcheting or friction?

I'm guessing you got that off of eBay about 5 months ago. I recognize the hands with the perfect bezel. This is the one I got off of eBay at the same time.

My SKX is the only watch I ever wear when fishing, and when fishing it's the only time I ever see sunsets as amazing as this one was.

A few World Times on here so far. Handy watches and a nice size. Novel solution for the GMT hand to clear the hour markers. Bend it.
