I'm pretty psyched...today I purchased a new SRP777 from a local Cincinnati Seiko AD...so now I have a companion for my beloved Seiko 6309-7049 that I've owned for almost 30 years...good times!

RAF-issued in 1984 using the first quartz-analog chronograph movement. Fixed bars. Promethium was used for lume. It should be on a NATO, but I love these vintage Eulit Panama Neu perlon straps in the summer.

Sorry for the arm hair :)~

You'll have to grow another wrist if you're going to go full MadDog....

How do you think it compares to the 6309 which is a watch I return to time and again just because it is just so wearable ?

@philh...sir, it is just as wearable as my 6309 in my humble opinion...even though the SRP777 is just a wee bit bigger than my 6309.

Thank you for your response and I think I will have a look at getting one as the venerable old lady that is my 6309 need to be treated with a little more respect as she is 36 years old
These 70s and 80s seiko's are bullet proof and it is easy to forget they are starting to push for vintage status (how ever you wish to define vintage)

And now you didn't technically lie to the wife unit... Speedy Gonzales was your LAST watch, SRP777 is your NEW watch!

Congrats @Mad Dog on finally pulling the trigger and breaking that lengthy drought!

Geez! You guys like Seiko's? I left the Omega forum when I became interested in non-Omega watches. Last month I bought my first Seiko for $10 at a flea market, and put a crystal and strap on it:

I added these later, but wasn't as lucky with the price:

Great watches! Love that early navigator timer. I just picked up the 2nd generation with the rotating bezel. It needs a service though.

Anyone got a good Seiko service place?

Mr. Randall Benson (Dr Seiko) is a watchmaker who specializes in working on Seikos. He has a website/forum (www.seikoholics.yuku.com) which is dedicated to all things Seiko. He is located near Los Angeles, CA. Randall overhauled my beloved 6309-7049 last year and did an excellent job...I highly recommend him. His contact email is [email protected].
