I’m selling my Seiko 6117 6400 World Time dating from August 1970. The watch is in good condition, all functions and complications work as they should. I find that these Seiko’s are super comfortable to wear, the C shape case has a nice curve to it. It also has a nice grey linen Dial, which I’ve found a bit difficult to photo this afternoon - but it’s there and hopefully visible in at least one of the photos.

Case - Steel, circa 40mm in good condition, factory facets and angles still present and sharp
Lugs- 20mm
Crown- correct unsigned crown
Caseback- a few “whoops” gouges, Serial number indicates August 1970 Production
Movement- Seiko 6117 Automatic, hackable with quickset date and 24hr hand
Service History - unknown, all functions work as they should -N.B. the World Timer Wheel turns as it should with no dead spots on the ratchet wheel that drives it.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Hi OF

@R3D9 has pointed out that this Watch looks like it has an AM dial. Looking at the difference between this one and known correct examples that Ben has provided I agree. Apologies Ben.

With that in mind I think the best thing is to withdraw the Watch from sale.

All the best

Nathan

No apologies necessary! It took a couple of very experienced Seiko collectors that I know to spot the dial - and one of them himself was fooled by a white one he had bought last year. They are becoming incredibly close to the real thing.

Folks, Nathan was a joy to interact with and reacted to the news of the dial in the way any of us would hope we would do in the same circumstance. I sincerely look forward to doing business with him again...

If only I’d had the funds available to swing that gorgeous Sinn you sold the other day 🥰

@R3D9 would it be possible to start another thread (or PM) and point out which traits led you to the conclusion it was an AM dial? Exactly the same thing happened to me with a Pogue but @ewand was kind enough to point out the AM parts on that. Seikos are starting to be a bigger minefield than Speedies.

@Tubber absolutely! I ran into another AM dial on a petrol blue Baby Jumbo that I can also share. I have a bunch of activities on today as it’s the long weekend here, but I’ll try and get something posted this week. 👍

Can't wait to read more about, I checked the dial and it seemed legit to me...you never stop learning! Thanks for sharing guys

Thanks @R3D9, this is really interesting.
While Jumbo’s telltales are clear, that 6117 dial remains scary...really slight differences, linen dial...I would have fallen for that for sure.
