Have you checked Maratac? They have a nice Marine green. Pic stolen from broadarrow.net.

Tom

Yeah, mine is a Zuludiver in a similar shade (but with PVD hardware which matches the dial; nice effect) - in some lights those are nice but overall it's a bit shiny where I'm looking for something closer to the original NATO that came on the watch - but for less than the 200 bucks Jacques Rousseau is sure to charge for another one of theirs! 😀

Then again, as it gets a bit cooler, I can wear that again... so stylish, yet so useless as it's lined with leather :/

If you change the hue of the strap by dunking it in decaf will the watch run slow?

Ummm...yeah...our teenager units (as well as the wife unit) like to remind me of that.

Our teenager units: "Hey dad...you're an old man...you need to wear old man cologne and stop trying to be 16!"

Mad Dog: "And who pays the bills around here? The bill payer will wear any damn cologne that they choose! Meddling kids!"

😁

This thread is like a fever dream. I had to read it twice to be sure I wasn't hallucinating. BTW I think @ulackfocus is right...when I read the thread topic my initial reaction was "buy a slightly darker NATO." Anyway this was quite entertaining!

So @Mad Dog , did you drink the coffee after the soaking, and if so did it taste like wrist sweat and nylon?

He who pays the bills chooses the smells! 😀

I won't lie, the only reason I smell like an adult is because I bought the Porsche Design cologne. I'm such an auto racing nerd. Smells nice though, fortunately 😀

You should see people's faces at Dunkin' (that's where I'm currently located) when you take a watch head off of a band and put the band in coffee...priceless...good times! 👍 👍 👍

There was a super hot girl that saw me do this and was...was...astounded. 😁 😁 😁

Well if I saw a man in a pilots uniform do that and then get in the front of my plane....

As an aside. I will always favour an american trained pilot than any other. I believe they actually can fly the planes, rather than the plane fly them.

Dunkin' Donuts coffee already tastes like
'wrist sweat and nylon' ☕️

My mom once told me that when she was young, she used to use coffee powder as a hair dye to give it a brownish hue. I thought she was trying to bait me into putting stupid stuff on my head. Guess I was wrong.....

Anyway Mad Dog I applaud your experimental spirit 👍 😁

For the record...I wasn't wearing my pilot uniform at the time. 👍

It's nylon guys. The only way to permanently change the color is to buy a new strap in the color you want.

....but keep on trying! I can't wait to see the 2 results posts - the first where everybody says "wow, that looks great!" and the second where everybody says "Doh!" when MadDog has a ring around his wrist.
To be honest, I believe you are correct in that I would not be able to darken the nylon...I was pretty yippy skippy at first but I don't believe I had the band totally dry in the beginning. Now that it's totally dry, I'm not sure if it's actually darker. Regardless, it was a fun experiment. Also, I never did get a wrist stain...so that's cool. 👍

There are some who might suggest that it could improve the taste of the aforementioned brown beverage....

Hey Mad Dog, I bet shoe polish would work. There may be other leather tricks too.
Believe it or not...following the coffee darkening attempt...I applied a small amount of mink oil to the nylon. It seemed to work for about a day...and then the nylon became light again. Pictured below is right after the mink oil was applied...
