Howdy, folks. I recently purchased a brown nylon NATO (pictured below to the right of the same NATO in black) and would like to slightly darken it. Any advice regarding what to apply to the brown nylon to slightly darken it is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Mad Dog, I bet shoe polish would work. There may be other leather tricks too.

I have darkened a light nylon Nato by soaking it in black tea. Worked great. Not sure if it would work with one as dark as yours, but couldn't hurt.

One thing to keep in mind is whatever you use to darken it, is likely to end up darkening your wrist as well. Which means you're going to have to explain to your wife or significant other why you have a ring of boot polish or dye or printer ink on your wrist after a sweaty day, in a way that doesn't make you sound peculiar. :D

Well, you just caused an epiphany by mentioning Dunkin' [coffee]...since I'm well versed in coffee stains due to years of academy training regarding spilling Dunkin' [coffee] all over the galaxy...I could apply Dunkin' [coffee] to the brown nylon to slightly darken it...I bet it would work.

So what's going on in that pic? Does junior dude have his hands in the mouth of a farm animal? It sure looks like it! That's so nutty! :D

Have you tried putting it in the shade?

Well...yes...and it looks good [slightly darkened] in the shade. It's so weird...that "shade" of brown on that brown nylon NATO varies greatly according to the light conditions...most of the time it appears too light.
