so was at the AD picking up some spring bars and a Panda dial Speedy on a 2-tone Sedna case caught my eye.......is it me or is this Omega's version of a Salmon dial?

I liked it....forgot to take pics of it while I was trying it on....but I digged it.....

Anybody have this reference.....I was trying on the variant with the leather strap and my head was spinning on how good it would look on a grey suede strap....

I've got one, its gorgeous. I haven't tried it on anything but the factory black strap, but its an absolute stunner of a watch.

I haven’t purchased it (yet) but tried it on and really like it. It’s about 40% less on the second hand market though, and knowing that that’s probably the way I’d go

I have it on the sedna gold/steel bracelet, bought it BNIB on C24 18 months ago at a bargain price (55% of retail). It's a really nice variation.

The render reminds me a little (and only superficially) of the Tudor Black Bay chrono with the pink dial—a pretty slick watch if you can pull it off. This would be less over the top.

Re: the two-tone, it’s a reminder of a lesson learned that I occasionally repeat. With only a few notable exceptions in the catalog (and this, evidently is not one of them), never pay retail for a precious metal—or partly precious metal—Omega. Unless you’ve got money to burn. They just don’t keep their value on the secondary market and can be difficult and slow to sell even at 50%. Most major preowned dealers (if you are looking for a trade-in or just don’t want to risk a private person-to-person sale) will reluctantly offer you 30% or less—and then list it themselves for 50%. It’s gruesome.

The AD offered a 10% discount right off the bat....I'm intrigued of these 30-50% discounts in the posts above... links or retailers that I should consider?

To be clear, not “discounts” from an Omega boutique or authorized dealer. What we’re talking about are preowned (but sometimes still essentially brand new) watches on the secondary market.

I owned a white gold Aqua Terra on a white gold bracelet—a massive 43mm 280 gram chunk of precious metal—awesome watch. Retail is $43,000 USD. I bought it in unworn condition, full set, for less than half. When I went to sell it, no dealer would offer me even half of what I paid. I ended up selling it to another OFer for… let’s just say a very good deal, not too much more than what its melt value would be. (Still way better than the offers I had.)

Other users here have had similar experiences. There are some precious metal Speedmasters that keep their value, but as a general rule precious metal Omegas at anything more than 50% retail are a risky buy if you ever want to recoup what you paid. It’s not like a gold Rolex where it’s essentially cash-in / cash-out, or even (I hate the idea) a potential “investment.”

As far as where to look—not sure where you are, but here in the US: 1916Co, EuropeanWatch, NashvilleWatch, OCWatchGuy (where I bought the aforementioned Aqua Terra)… many others. SwissWatchExpo and Capetown Diamond are both perfectly legit but have had some issues in the past that are good to be aware of. FWIW, I’ve had trouble-free dealings with both over the years.

A ten second search turned up one example for you—I’m sure you’ll find dozens more.

Here is a platinum, ruby dial Speedmaster that retails for $75k USD. https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...moonphase-chronograph-44-25-mm-30493445299002

EuropeanWatch (in Boston—one of the most reputable dealers of preowned luxury watches in the world) has one on offer for $47k, and I’m betting that’s a very negotiable price. https://www.europeanwatch.com/watch...master-moonphase-master-chronometer-pla-65947

I forgot to mention DavidSW—another top preowned dealer, though I think they mostly do Rolex and Holy Trinity stuff with an odd Omega here and there that they’ve taken on trade.

One poster above mentioned C24 (chrono24). That’s just like eBay—so buyer beware. I never use that site, sticking instead to reputable preowned dealers and trusted sellers here.

let’s just say a very good deal
Zenith had a stellar deal with the EP A386 50th anniversary in white/rose and yellow gold offering a 50 year warranty and service included in their RRP of €19.5k, that was enough for me to pull the trigger.

C24 is a lot different than eBay. A buyer has good protection if you are buying from a dealer. Most of the watches on C24 are sold by dealers, and many of the watches for sale on C24 are also for sale on their individual web sites, so you can buy from there if you wish. Don't get hung up on a particular platform (pro or con), always buy the seller and see what the terms are. I mentioned that I bought the Sedna/steel model about 18 months ago at 55% of retail from a dealer I was not familiar with but he had good feedback and he answered a couple of questions. Watch came BNIB, full stickered with all cards, sold by an AD in Boston a month before. Why was it priced so low, I have no idea. Mismarked, came in a package deal and dealer wanted to on sell it quickly, no idea. Deals are always out there, you have to scout around for them, they pop up on a regular basis. When you see one, move.

Fair enough—you can usually use C24 to search and then find the dealer’s own site (if it is a dealer). I’ve done that.

But many of the listings on C24 are fake. You need to filter your search to exclude “item needs to be procured” listings or you are likely to get scammed and the platform will not help you. Google around to learn more.

I also bought a watch from a dealer via C24 once that arrived not as described, and it was a huge pain to resolve—thankfully I was able to prevail on the dealer to do right, as C24 was unwilling to step in. (I’ve actually had better luck with eBay as both buyer and seller, but now I tend to avoid both—just too many landmines.)
