I am going to go back to the beginning and read all these replies very carefully [EDIT: I've now done that, all additional comments in bold] but having got only partway down the first page I am struck by:

1. The sentiment "It doesn't look exactly like mine": quite often in posts like this one I am troubled by a feeling of are we in danger of presuming that "mine" is the completely original as-left-the-factory version?
2. Talk of dial and insert swapouts: I refer my wise colleagues to my first concern. There's plenty of comment in this thread acknowledging changes of bezels and inserts: Trigger's Broom/George Washington's axe spring to mind. Can I also suggest that "the seller didn't say anything about XXX" can mean any one of a number of things maybe good, maybe not so?
3. "You can buy cheaper from Japan": if the OP is in Great Britain, any purchase he makes from Japan is likely to attract VAT/Duty so whilst the Japanese purchase prices may well be lower, the as delivered price isn't going to be quite so appealing.
I've bought from Japan for import to GB before and I'll do it again: watches, cameras, lenses. There is usually a greater choice available but to the OP my advice would be:
1. DO NOT think you'll dodge the VAT/Duty especially if the vendor is using one of the globally-known courier companies. Once you've added say 20% to the import how do things look?
2. Read the detail of the listing very carefully and if you're unsure ask direct questions. If you're still unsure and unless your £ is burning a hole in your pocket be prepared to search again.
3. Ex Japan watches often come without original box, paperwork and tags: is this a deal breaker for you? Ex Japan watches sometimes come with shortened bracelets and lack the missing links: be aware before you buy.

The OP talks about wanting a watch to wear and not a safe queen. Empty watch boxes take up space but can be useful when it comes to sale time.

The local vendor in Leamington:
ask if they offer warranty on the watch and don't forget that there may be some wriggle room in the asking price but you're going to have to ask and the worst they can say is "no".

Now, to read everything carefully and hopefully acquire some wisdom..... I'll look forward to photos of the new acquisition. We all mean well here.

That seems about the same price ive seen them for also, interesting to see if they become "rare" in comparison with the steel models in the future

I don't think that people know about these titanium watches. For example, there's a superb America's Cup regatta timer that should really be sought after but many people just have no knowledge of it even existing.

For some reason titanium just seems to be a niche material when it comes to watches. I own an Apollo 11 45th anniversary watch that is made from titanium and I absolutely love the way it feels. I wonder if the 2231.50 is going to become difficult to find. Congrats if you already own this.

After years of looking for a full set to have serviced, mod with black bezel insert and modern tool less micro-adjust clasp...I finally landed 1! Best part is, those mods were already done with Dec '21 service.

I paid near the top of private party market value but with recent service, clasp upgrade, and full set I'm quite happy with the value.

For comparison, my Speedy Reduced with smaller 3 adjustment clasp.

After a few weeks ownership, with both mods described in my prior incoming post this has cemented its place as perhaps the best daily casual watch ever in my collection, past and present.

I rotate between this and my BB58 blue on jubilee. Both timeless, super comfortable, high quality and great looking.

Hello, i googled for Swatch service center for my region and called them to order the part. They had the part in stock and it was delivered within two days. The part number is 082SU1464. I always wanted a titanium 2254.50 and it is awesome.
Awesome.... do you think blue bezel of 2531.80 (Bond seamaster) would also fit?

I would love to have blue bezel on mine.

Titanium is a great material. I don't have a 2231.xx but I love my 2298.80:

I recently traded for a 2254.50 and I love the design elements of the sword-handed Seamaster 300m.

I'd love to get an Electric Blue version. Incidentally, here are the 41mm Automatic Electric Blue references:

2232.80 - titanium w/Speedmaster bracelet
2231.80 - titanium w/Seamaster (Bond) bracelet
2055.80.00 - stainless w/Seamaster (Bond) bracelet
2255.80.00 - stainless w/Speedmaster bracelet

The only thing i would swap my 2231.50 for is a 2231.80 or a 2232.80! Its not bad at all, i just like a color that pops 😀 Some of the pins were a bit worn down so i just replaced all pins and tubes in the entire bracelet, actually might have made it a bit more comfortable somehow

Well after looking and reading here, now I really want one of these.
What is the difference between 2231.80 and 2232.80?

Best I can tell is one has black hands and the other is white?

The difference is the bracelet: 2232 has Speedy style bracelet while 2231 has Bond style bracelet

So revisiting this. Looking on C24 or Ebay, 2231.80 run $2-4k. The Japanese ones look ok, all of them appear to require servicing soon if not immediately. 1120 movement is unfamiliar to me. How much is service on one of these?

Here’s mine on a nato with the bezel insert swapped out for a blue one They’re great watches. I’d highly recommend buying the titanium adjustable claps from Omega as well.
