You could consider this an opportunity to resurrect a classic Peter Blake if it has meaning to you. Send it to Omega, get an estimate for as complete a restoration as they can manage, then decide. It has had one life cycle, apparently serverd hard & well, now you get to decide if the cost/value ratio will let it serve you for a second life cycle. It's an Omega, it's classic. Probably cost more than it's worth to restore. Personally, I like to rescue things and make them functional and beautiful again, sometimes it's borderline irrational, but if you can afford it, I'd say do it, I'd probably leave the initials on the back as a reminder of its journey.

I going to run it by the Omega boutique.

What do yall think about a local guy who specializes in Rolex?

He got my mk4.5 running?

Most likely never had a service in its life.
The red tip on the second hand has not faded much though, something very common for it to fade.
I'm betting you are right.

I wonder if it was dropped or just needs a service.

That's what I am thinking. It's a cool watch and I used to race sailboats. So it's worth saving.

I'm saving the caseback and leaving it as is.

I'll report back if I can get it to run over night.

Partly depends on the guy, his experience/training/etc etc. May not have same parts access but also may be willing to source parts at lower cost (i.e. second-hand, NOS), and so on. I'd definitely at least check w/your AD/boutique first.

As others have said, it may cost more to get it back to pristine than its worth. Why not just get the movement serviced, a new link pin in the bracelet and wear as is? It has a certain charm in its beaten up appearance.

That is one beat up 2254.50. Looks legit but is need of a lot of TLC at the service center. Omega can polish the case and make it look much better but I'm thinking it will still have some battle scars. If needed, a crystal is about $172, bezel assembly $278. Dial looks okay, hands are part of the service. Not sure how much they can do to restore the bracelet, a new 1610/930 runs $680. Could be a pricey service... but it is a Peter Blake and they are classic. Incidentaly, the case back can also be replaced if you want the personalized engraving gone.
Sorry to hijack but I'm also in the market for a 2254 bezel and insert. Anybody know the part number?

In good condition, I think I've seen these used in the $2-3k range, I'd send it to Omegas for a restoration estimate, if they can do it within that window, what you will have is a nice watch with a known history, iconic model and a years warranty, worth about what you have in it. A new bezel will really draw attention to the overall condition. I think it deserves at least an estimate. With Omega's new parts policy, a local repair might prove difficult. The bracelet may also prove to be problematic. If you want to minimize the cost, you might consider an Omega NATO Bond strap to keep the watch in character, just restore the head.

4. The bezel is stuck, i assume this is a easy fix.

Just curious but is it definitely stuck? I want to point out the obvious which is the bezel only rotates in one direction. Mine also is tough to rotate if you just pinch it with your finger tips but is pretty easy to spin if I use my palm over the whole face.

Cleaned up.

Look at the stretch on the bracelet. But its fixed! Well, thats a stretch. The Omega boutique put a pin in it. But it's ready to let go.

The bezel spring was replaced. I know, lipstick on a pig at this point but the cosmetics are great.

The watch was pressure tested at the boutique and passed. That's a good sign

The timegrapher shows a very sick watch. The timeless is close to what I timed it at.

So the Houston Omega Boutique is an awesome place. Robert, the manager and Joseph, the watchmaker took it apart, cleaned it, popped the bezel, diagnosed the issue, replaced the spring and bezel. They put a pin in the band and replaced the broken spring bar and the other spring bar.

Even though we knew it was putting lipstick on the pig, they did what they could to make sure the watch left in better shape.

So it will be going in for a service at Omega Omega through the boutique

So it needs a cleaning...LOL . Happy that was the easy part
Yep, That was the easy part. Now I have to explain to the client why his watch is worth only 500 to 1000
