Seamaster de Ville - What the hell am I looking at?

Well... I just saw that one on Facebook, and I just can't figure it out:

The seahorse on the back is tilted, and the inner caseback really got me wondering.

No signature from a case manufacturer that I know of, 1660920 is a Genève reference number, and 3281 points to nothing in particular. I don't pretend to know all case manufacturers and all the SMDV, so... Anyone knows more about this?

Caseback medallion makes me think maybe French, they have that sort of look about them. It’s a cool looking watch.

No French eagles head to be seen
'Carci' - maybe Italian?

Does that mean I have to constitute a French reference list for the SMDV thread? 🫨

For me also "carci" sound like italian but with google translate i did not find anything. So i assume it's a short from a longer word.

Well well well, let's open my old copy of the Necronomicon and cast the spell ' call @gatorcpa '!

I see you have seen this 'Carci' inscription before. Can you tell me more about it? Are you positive it's a Brazilian case? Thank you!

I am not positive at all. I can find no reference to “Carci” anywhere on the internet.

But there are enough Carci produced cases out there that I believe they were a contractor to Omega.

If someone who owns one of these watches wants to spend the €130 (or whatever it costs these days) for an Omega Extract of Archives, they should tell you to which country the movement was delivered and we would have our answer.

The mistery goes on, then. Thank you for your help!

I couldn't help but have a look and found this:
http://www.sold.oldworldjewelers.co...a-constellation-1689005-18K-rose-gold-pie-pan

also a rose gold 168.9005 - with 'CARCI' and this time also with 'IND BRAS' - pretty similar to other examples out there
(so either a serial faker, or the style of Brazilian cases)
Britain had '5' as in 168.5005 - with their own distinct style
France had '3' as in 168.3005 - with their own distinct style
So, did Brazil have '9'?

Same 3281 case reference as the SMVD - which perhaps is a bit off-putting?

Well, Britain also had 165.6520, 366.7003 and 365.800 unfortunately.

I'm afraid that I don't really follow Seamaster references, so I don't know if theses references refer to locally produced gold cased watches.

In the world of gold-cased Constellations, only the additional '5' for Britain and '3' for France appear on locally made gold cases - except of course where the local goldsmiths/retailers used their own case references (for both their own styles and some facsimile cases)
