Hi guys,

I am from the UK and completely new to vintage watches and I am interested in picking up a vintage omega seamaster of sorts.

I have found this Seamaster De Ville 1969 online and have some questions about it and was hoping you guys could give me some advice.

Are the dial, hands, case, and crown original? I know that the strap is not original and there are no pictures of the clasp so believe this is also unoriginal.

Does the case look over-polished? I don't really know what to look for with this.

The serial number matches up, however it says on the omega website that it is supposed to be a 563 calibre however from the pictures and description it says 550 calibre, is this something to be wary of?

The seller stated that it is running well but to about a minute a day slow, does this indicate the need for a service if I were to purchase? or what can we call good s/day for a watch of this age?

There is no service history with it. The seller is reputable within the marketplace with lots of great reviews.

What would be a good price range to pay for this? Obviously I know it is hard to predict, but I am completeley new to this so do not want to overpay. It is currently being auctioned.

What is the general opinion on the watch? Personally I think it looks great but I know beneath the surface there can be more to it. Any other advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Looks like a stunning example to me but I am no expert. Maybe if you gave an idea of the price someone much more experienced can give you a definitive answer.

It’s an American market case, with the lower jewelled 550 movement (so correct). Crown is correct.
For a gold case the condition/level of polishing is fine.
Dial isn’t one I’m familiar with and the lack of a minute track concerns me, but the font looks like it could be original.
Value will depend on case material which I assume is 14ct?

It’s all good, the Roman was one of the Norman Morris special dial options of that era.

here’s another:

Great thanks, it is 14ct gold filled not pure so not a lot of value in the gold i presume

Its a 7 day auction with 5 days remaining and at £452 with 11 bidders for reference.

Does anyone have an opinion on the 1min/day time delay?

That's already about the max I would pay for it given the gold-filled case, the printed dial, and the low-jeweled movement. -60s/day is pretty bad, the watch will need a service.

Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I don’t find the dial design very attractive. A basic sunburst dial with applied stick hour markers is much nicer.
Good filled is also about the least desirable case material after gold plate.
It wouldn’t attract me at any price but agree I certainly wouldn’t pay more than current bud, especially without a bracelet.
